Episode 9: "Authentic Flirt"

  Plot Summary

The episode opens with a dangerous setup: SAPTA, blackmailed by Tom, is forced to plant a high-tech invisible listening device in Jane’s safe house. Meanwhile, Patterson deciphers scattered letters on Jane’s body, translating them into a series of dog adoption notices—leading to a critical clue: a meeting at a Staten Island guesthouse at 2 PM.

At the guesthouse, the team is ambushed by two Bulgarian-speaking attackers. Jane’s language skills prove invaluable as she translates their words, allowing her and Kurt Weller to take down one attacker (Jonathan) while Reade takes out the other. With both attackers dead, the team can’t interrogate them—but they find hidden event tickets and pins, which Patterson traces to two kidnappers holding the Perry family hostage. The kidnappers are after Robert, an accountant turned whistleblower who put Victor (a criminal) in prison. Weller realizes the witness protection program has been compromised.

Mayfair reveals that hackers breached their system, exposing thousands of witness files. Weller and Jane must go undercover at a high-stakes auction using the stolen tickets. At the event, guards confiscate their phones and whisk them away via helicopter after verifying their pins—leaving Reade and the others helpless.

Tom confronts Mayfair, demanding action on Saul’s capture. Mayfair stalls him by mentioning her plan to turn Saul into an informant. Meanwhile, Patterson recovers deleted data, discovering the helicopter belongs to a corrupt accountant named Gold (alias "Richie"), who is secretly negotiating with Weller and Jane.

Richie warns them before offering a USB drive containing witness data in exchange for Jane’s necklace. However, Weller spots a second pin, realizing another buyer is present. He creates a diversion, sneaks into the security room, and discovers the rival buyer. Pretending to negotiate with Richie, Weller tricks the rival into revealing their hand—and then steals their USB drive.

A fight breaks out, alerting Richie, who kills the rival buyer after Weller frames him as an FBI agent. Weller and Jane then overpower Richie, stealing his gun and escaping. But Richie’s men ambush them—until Reade and Sapat arrive in a helicopter, gunning down the attackers and arresting Richie.

Back at headquarters, Mayfair learns Tom has murdered Saul to protect "Project Daylight." Meanwhile, David, researching a book tied to the conspiracy, is stalked and killed by a mysterious woman.

Episode 10: "Evil Handmade Instrument"

  Plot Summary

The team is shaken by David’s death, but Patterson pushes forward, linking a partial fingerprint found on his body to Roger—a Russian-born man with no significant criminal record. At Roger’s home, Weller interrupts him kidnapping his wife, Emily. A shootout ensues, and Roger dies by poison, leaving behind a photo of himself, Emily, and Kate (a friend of David’s who was stalking him in the library).

Kate, now missing, is married to Nathan, a successful American. Weller questions Nathan but learns nothing. With help from counterintelligence agent Kara, they trace Kate’s connection to Olivia, a museum worker whose husband is New York Timeseditor Edward. Olivia flees when confronted by Weller but is eventually cornered.

Patterson notices numerical codes in David’s book are actually spy aliases. Using this, she tricks Olivia into confessing her involvement in a Russian spy ring. Olivia admits she was recruited but refuses to reveal their mission—until Jane, overhearing her speak Russian, realizes she too can understand the language. This breakthrough encourages Olivia to disclose their target: New York Timesreporter Boris.

Weller rushes to save Boris, but arrives too late—Kate has already killed him. Olivia reveals that flower shops were their mission drop points, but the shop has been burned and its data erased. Patterson recovers partial information, showing Kate obtained a fake ID to infiltrate a contractor expo at the museum.

While protecting expo attendees, the team learns Kate’s next target is Steve, a lone attendee. They secure Steve, but Kate escapes to a dockyard, where she fights Weller and Jane. She nearly injects Jane with a deadly needle, but Weller intervenes, injecting Kate instead and saving Jane.

Patterson mourns David’s death, confessing her guilt to Jane for pushing him away. Touched, Jane seeks solace with Weller—but is kidnapped by Tom on her way home. Tom tortures Jane, demanding to know who sent her to the FBI, even threatening her with a power drill.

Suddenly, a mysterious man bursts in, killing Tom and his men. Jane recognizes him as the man from her fragmented memories—a figure she once trusted. The man reveals Jane’s tattoos were her own choice, and introduces himself as Oscar, her ally.
