The episode commences with Crystal experiencing another unsettling encounter with the demon David during her sleep. The traumatic experience leads to a heart-to-heart conversation between Crystal and Charles, where they mutually agree to focus on their friendship rather than romantic pursuits.

Meanwhile, the Dead Boy Detectives receive a new case from two recently deceased high school students, Brad and Hunter, who suspect they were murdered rather than dying from accidental alcohol poisoning. The boys offer a monetary reward for their services, prompting the team to take on the case.

Niko, while engaged in correspondence with her mother, becomes an unwitting matchmaker, connecting Jenny, their landlord, with Maxine, the librarian. The four individuals arrange a date, setting the stage for a potential romantic connection. However, Niko's involvement in the matchmaking process is short-lived as she discovers a personal mystery that requires her undivided attention.

The investigation into Brad and Hunter's deaths leads the Dead Boy Detectives to their former party spot, where they encounter a haunted tree with eerie eyes. Disguising themselves as reporters, Charles and Edwin conduct interviews with potential witnesses, while Crystal gathers information through her own methods.

Their inquiries lead them to a troubled young man who reveals that Brad's ex-girlfriend, Shelby, may be involved in the case. Haunted by her own tragic past, Shelby blames Brad and Hunter for sabotaging her athletic career by spiking her drink, resulting in a failed drug test and the loss of her scholarship. Although she denies committing murder, she expresses deep regret for taking her own life.

A breakthrough occurs when Crystal receives a confession from Maren, a young woman connected to the case. It is revealed that Maren murdered Brad and Hunter after discovering that Brad had shared intimate photos of her with Hunter. Driven by anger and a desire for revenge, Maren spiked the boys' drinks, intending only to render them unconscious and delete the compromising images. However, the plan tragically went awry, resulting in their deaths.

With the truth exposed, Maren turns herself in to the authorities, and Brad and Hunter, their unfinished business resolved, are escorted to the afterlife.

The episode concludes with a series of interconnected events. Niko's matchmaking efforts take a sinister turn when Jenny becomes a victim of Maxine's obsessive behavior. Crystal once again encounters the malevolent demon David, while Charles experiences an unexpected romantic advance from Monty.
