GG Precinct: Season 1, Episode 2: A Deeper Dive into the Idiom Murders

The second episode of GG Precinct delves deeper into the mysterious "Idiom Murders," revealing the chilling backstory of the original killer, Shui-yan. A flashback takes us back to 2001, where Shui-yan's brutal actions are finally exposed. He is arrested for a horrific crime inspired by the idiom "a pound of flesh," but not before completing his gruesome act.

In the present day, Shui-yan, now imprisoned, watches the news with a sense of satisfaction as the second copycat victim, PE teacher Liao Shan-tai, is revealed. Meanwhile, the GG Precinct team interrogates Hsiao-wu, the security guard who discovered the first victim. Despite his suspicious behavior and access to the crime scene, Hsiao-wu maintains his innocence, claiming he would never harm the property value of his properties.

Shao-nien, the undercover cop, questions Mr. Kuo, the school groundskeeper, who reveals that Liao Shan-tai was often seen working out late. However, Kuo also shares a peculiar detail: he heard a motorcycle passing by around the time of the murder.

The third victim, Mogi Yumi, an underground idol, is found with a knife through her bone and her hair tied up, reflecting the idiom "Tie up your hair and jab your thigh to stay awake." The coroner, a fan of Yumi, breaks down in tears, leading to a surprising moment of comfort from Ming-han.

At the precinct, the team updates Chief Chang on the case, while the commissioner arrives and offers her expertise. She praises Lin Tzu-ching's strategy of consulting Shui-yan but dismisses Chang's approach of interrogating him. Instead, she proposes a bold plan: bring Shui-yan to the precinct and let him observe the investigation.

To Ming-han's amusement, Shui-yan is dressed in a Maltese graphic tee and subjected to his taunts. However, Tzu-ching intervenes, calming the situation. Meanwhile, a delivery girl accidentally stumbles upon the investigation board, sparking curiosity and suspicion.

When questioned about his motives, Shui-yan reveals his belief that idioms hold the wisdom and history of a nation. He justifies his actions as a way to protect the students' souls and his country, claiming they had dishonored the nation through their mistakes. A flashback reveals that Shui-yan had a disciple who shared his beliefs.

As the episode concludes, Yumi's manager, Lin Pai-sheng, reports that an obsessive fan had been stalking her. However, the manager's suspicious behavior and a final shot of the coroner and another man suggest that there may be more to the case than meets the eye.
