In the fifth episode of Only Murders in the Building Season 3, "Ah, Love!", our trio of amateur sleuths continues their investigation into Ben Glenroy's murder, while also navigating their own personal lives.
The episode opens with a discussion about Charles's recent revelation that his fiancée, Joy, might be the killer. While Charles is hesitant to confront her, Mabel and Oliver are convinced that there's something amiss. Meanwhile, Oliver is finally going on a date with Loretta, a fellow actor, and Mabel is meeting up with Tobert, a potential suspect.

As Charles grapples with his doubts about Joy, he decides to confront her at Magnolia Bakery. During their conversation, Joy becomes defensive and denies any involvement in Ben's murder. Just as things are getting heated, Sazz, Charles's old stunt double, arrives and tries to convince him that he's suffering from MGDS (Murderous Girlfriend Derangement Syndrome). Through a series of role-playing exercises, Charles realizes that his fear of Joy is not about her being a killer, but rather about his fear of commitment and his fear of being hurt again.
Meanwhile, Mabel's "stakeout" at a swanky piano bar leads her to discover that Jonathan, Howard's boyfriend and Ben's understudy, might be involved in the murder. She witnesses him meeting with a mysterious man and handing him an envelope.
Oliver's date with Loretta takes a surprising turn when he accidentally knocks out a tooth while trying to eat a pork chop. As they laugh about the incident, Loretta reveals that she once played the role of a "fucking pig" in a stage production. This revelation sparks a memory in Oliver, and he begins to suspect that Loretta might have had a motive for killing Ben.
Loretta admits that she did get into a heated argument with Ben before his death, but she denies killing him. Instead, she tells Oliver that she called him a "fucking pig" because he was being arrogant and dismissive.
As the episode draws to a close, Charles finally confronts Joy about his secret. He reveals that he was the one who hit Ben on the night of the murder, not Joy. Joy is shocked and heartbroken to learn that Charles had lied to her. She breaks off their engagement and leaves him devastated.
Meanwhile, Mabel and Tobert continue their investigation and add Dr. C, Ben's private doctor, to their list of suspects. Oliver and Loretta also make progress in their relationship, sharing a kiss and a moment of connection.
The episode ends with a cliffhanger as Oliver discovers a book full of newspaper clippings about Ben Glenroy in Loretta's apartment. Could she be the killer after all?
