One is an assassin hiding in the shadows, shuttling through various European countries, carrying out precise assassination missions with a mysterious and traceless whereabouts.

The other is a female agent hunting down this mysterious killer, intelligent and resolute, yet suffering deeply in terms of family and emotions.

These two individuals, the Jackal and Bianca, form the core of The Day of the Jackal Season 1.

This pursuit is both a contest of wits and a battle of the soul, like an endless game of cat and mouse.

Eddie Redmayne, affectionately known as "Little Freckles", plays the Jackal, who is far from being a cold-blooded killer in the traditional sense.

He has a warm family and lives a peaceful life with his wife Nuria. However, tormented by past experiences on the battlefield, he struggles in the conflict between family and career.

The Jackal's deep affection for his family and loyalty to his work form a sharp inner contradiction. Carrying out missions ruthlessly is his instinct, but he cannot lie to his loved ones. This contradiction makes the character more three-dimensional and complex.

Lashana Lynch plays Bianca, a dedicated agent and the Jackal's sworn enemy.

She shows no mercy in hunting down the Jackal, but this perseverance makes her struggle bitterly in the moral and emotional tug-of-war. Her relationship with her husband is increasingly strained, and her estrangement from her daughter makes her even lonelier.

For her career, she ruthlessly sacrifices her family, yet on the road to pursuing justice, she drifts further away and loses her direction.

Nuria's role is equally crucial. She is not only the Jackal's wife but also a driving force of the plot.

Her doubts and anxieties force the Jackal to make painful choices between family and career. Cobeiro's acting is delicate and authentic, accurately capturing the inner struggle of an ordinary person in extreme circumstances.

However, time spares no one. Cobeiro has aged a lot, much more so than in her prime in Money Heist; the "Tokyo" of those days is gone.

The action scenes in The Day of the Jackal are one after another, exciting and splendid.

From long-range sniping to high-speed car chases, from escape from room to firefight showdowns, every scene is full of tension and dazzling. The confrontation between the Jackal and Bianca is the exciting part of the whole drama, which not only tests wisdom and courage but also is a contest of speed and reaction. Every confrontation is a heartbeat-accelerating moment.

The most fascinating aspect of the show is that the two characters, the Jackal and Bianca, completely break the traditional boundary between "good guys" and "bad guys".

The old movie clearly distinguished between good and bad, but here the line is deliberately blurred. Both have their own persistent values and beliefs, and each strives for different goals.

Although the Jackal is a killer, he has principles. For example, before blowing up a building, he always sounds the alarm to try his best to avoid innocent casualties. Bianca, although representing justice, does not hesitate to sacrifice everything in the process of hunting the Jackal, including informants, family, and moral bottom lines. This blurred moral boundary deeply captures the audience's hearts, making people wonder who to support.

What makes The Day of the Jackal unique is that it combines the complexity of family with a thrilling atmosphere.

Both the Jackal and Bianca carry emotional burdens, and family has become a pain point in their choices.

In the fierce conflict between pursuit and being pursued, the Jackal's top priority is to protect his family, while Bianca has to make sacrifices for justice. Both struggle between emotions and responsibilities, unable to choose easily.

Given the ending of the last episode, especially considering the great success of the show worldwide, we can look forward to the second season with confidence.
