If you enjoy intense political thrillers, then The Night Agent Season 2 might once again catch your eye.

This Netflix series returns nearly two years after the premiere of its first season, continuing to revolve around the adventures of Peter (Gabriel Basso) and Rose (Luciane Buchanan).
They team up again, attempting to uncover a dangerous threat of intelligence leaks, featuring both heart-pounding chase and gunfight scenes, as well as deep emotional interactions between the characters.
In the first season, Peter was still exploring and learning, but in the second season, he begins to show more independent agent capabilities. He has his own ideas and trusts no one, because he feels there is a mole within the organization.
Peter has now officially become a part of the Night Action team and is ordered to carry out field missions. In Season 2, The Night Agent sets a more complex and dangerous situation for Peter.
At first, he and his female partner are ordered to go to Thailand to track Warren, a key figure who leaked CIA confidential documents, but they fall into an ambush, and his female partner loses her life for nothing.

Peter, who barely escapes with his life, has to face the increasingly dangerous mission alone, tracking Warren by himself. He cuts off contact with his superior because he doesn't know if he can still trust her.

Like the first season, each episode of the second season is filled with a lot of action scenes and chase sequences. From the operation in Bangkok to the pursuit in New York, the plot brings an intense street chase right from the start.

However, the president, whom Peter once saved, gradually wavers in his trust in him, and the only one who trusts Peter is Rose.
Peter and Rose remain the core of the series. They each experience growth and challenges, and the audience can see how their bond continues and deepens in the new season.
The romantic chemistry and tacit understanding between Peter and Rose were the core of the first season, and the second season further elevates their relationship. They trust and protect each other. Rose's data analysis and superb "hacking" skills are of great help to Peter. The always arrogant Peter also admits that it would be difficult for him to catch the suspect without Rose's help.

However, Rose is also regarded by many viewers as the weakest link in the show. She, single-handedly, outperforms professional U.S. intelligence agencies and is the first to track down Peter's location. In reality, as a civilian, she would not have sufficient resources and technology to access such sensitive information or participate in confidential operations.
It's really hard not to complain that Rose can track down someone whom the president has ordered to find but can't, just through the company's computer analysis.

Nevertheless, The Night Agent Season 2 also offers plenty of suspense, action, and emotional drama, making it a passable series.
If you are a fan of the first season or enjoy works like Homeland, then this show is worth a try. If you are not very interested in this type of thriller, you can consider skipping it.

Although both are similar spy dramas, The Night Agent is definitely not as gripping as Slow Horses. This Netflix-produced series is worth watching, but there is still a big gap from being excellent.
Currently, The Night Agent Season 3 has been renewed. Let's hope it gets better and better!
