In the third episode of "A Virtuous Business," the drama intensifies as Jeong-suk faces both public scrutiny and personal turmoil. The episode opens with Jeong-suk at the center of neighborhood gossip due to a defamatory graffiti on her wall. Instead of the support she desperately needs, she is met with judgment from her landlord and neighbors, who see her business as a source of shame. This is exacerbated by her mother, Bok-sun, who not only fails to provide comfort but also aligns with the critics, disapproving of Jeong-suk's choice to sell adult toys.
Jeong-suk stands firm in her decision, arguing that her products could benefit married couples and that her ex-husband, Seong-su, is the true cause of their problems. However, Bok-sun remains unmoved, even refusing to babysit Jeong-suk's son, Min-ho, further complicating Jeong-suk's life as she juggles work and childcare.

A glimmer of hope emerges when Min-ho forms a bond with Dong-u, Ju-ri's son, leading to Ju-ri offering to help with childcare. This act of kindness provides Jeong-suk with some respite amidst the chaos.
The graffiti incident reaches the local police, prompting kind-hearted officer Da-hyun to check on Jeong-suk. He helps her remove the graffiti, just in time before Min-ho returns from school. Da-hyun's investigation into the graffiti leads to a dead end, but his support for Jeong-suk is unwavering.
Jeong-suk, Geum-hui, and Young-bok continue their sales efforts, but their meal is interrupted by Park In-tae, who proposes that Jeong-suk host a party at his place. In-tae's revelation of his marital issues leaves Jeong-suk shocked and uncomfortable.
At home, Min-ho receives a package from Seong-su, including a letter and a toy robot. Jeong-suk hides her frustration and continues with her day. However, when Young-bok is injured, Jeong-suk has to take over her shift, leading to an awkward situation where she has to bring Min-ho along to In-tae and Mi-hwa's party.
The episode takes a darker turn when Min-ho goes missing during the party. In-tae, who had left to get snacks, realizes Min-ho is missing, causing panic to ensue. Jeong-suk is frantic, and Da-hyun is immediately notified.
Da-hyun reassures Jeong-suk that Min-ho is likely nearby, but as time passes and darkness falls, the situation becomes more worrisome. Bok-sun arrives, not to comfort but to harshly criticize Jeong-suk, accusing her of shamelessness. This leads to a confrontation where Jeong-suk questions her mother's lack of support, resulting in a slap from Bok-sun.
Da-hyun deduces that Min-ho might have gone to his father's old workplace, and indeed, Min-ho is found there, hoping to get his father's job back. Jeong-suk brings him home, with Da-hyun offering help and comfort. Da-hyun advises Jeong-suk to rest and take care of herself, leaving her with first aid for her cheek.
The next day, Jeong-suk receives good news—it's payday. She and Min-ho celebrate their hard-earned salaries, but the joy is slightly dampened by an encounter with her still cold and distant mother. However, Bok-sun's tough exterior begins to crack when she sees her ex-husband, Yong-deok, with his mistress, bringing back painful memories.
In a poignant scene, Jeong-suk approaches Bok-sun at a bus stop, offering her an umbrella and a listening ear. Bok-sun opens up about her past, sharing how Yong-deok's infidelity and neglect shattered her life, explaining her harshness towards Jeong-suk.
As Bok-sun leaves, it's clear she's beginning to understand Jeong-suk's struggles, recognizing her daughter's actions as a means of survival. Jeong-suk, left to process her emotions, realizes she's reliving her mother's heartache. In a gesture of love, she gives Bok-sun a beautiful shirt, an attempt to help her mother feel like herself again. This episode is a testament to Jeong-suk's strength and the complex ties that bind families together through trials and tribulations.
