In his dazed state, William heard footsteps approaching rhythmically from a distance. The Native American leader arrived by his side and told William that he remembered him.
On the brink of death, William was taken to the Native American tribe. Anna sat nearby, unharmed, watching as the leader, Akecheta, roughly discarded William to the side. Perhaps Akecheta hadn't yet decided how to deal with this human who had committed countless killings across Westworld, but there was a story he wanted to tell Anna now.
Akecheta and Anna originally belonged to different storylines but became intertwined due to a glitch.
His current appearance, covered in intimidating body paint, marked him as a member of a savage tribe. But once, he too had clean skin and flowing hair, living a simple life among his people. There, he had a woman he loved. Time and again, he died and was resurrected, continuing to live a life of love with his beloved and his tribe. Until one day, the programming department decided to alter Akecheta's settings, making him cruel and terrifying to satisfy more thrilling storylines. Akecheta was thus separated from his lover and family.
However, Akecheta's subconscious had gained autonomy. Memories of past lives lingered hidden in his mind. He always felt that something was wrong but couldn't trigger deeper awareness. One day, while exploring the world, he arrived in a desert. There, he encountered a man dying under the scorching sun—it was Logan. Akecheta didn't know him at the time, but Logan's words stayed with him:
"There is a door here that leads away from this world of lies."
One day, while leading his men to trade with another Native American tribe, he saw the lover from his past lives. Memories flooded his mind, and he remembered everything. But this world had changed beyond recognition. His former lover looked at him with the eyes of a stranger, breaking his heart.
That night, Akecheta infiltrated the tribe's camp and kidnapped his lover, determined to take her to the door leading out of this world. His lover transitioned from fear to doubt, and then, recalling memories of past lives, began to remember Akecheta. Akecheta had once found the door to the new world, but when he returned with his lover, the location had been concealed by the programming department.
He and his lover lived as discreetly as possible, but they couldn't escape the department's surveillance. Her presence in an unauthorized area naturally drew attention, and she was retrieved by the technicians. Akecheta lost his lover once again, but this didn't defeat him—instead, it ignited a fierce determination to resist.
He explored Westworld, struggling to survive, avoiding death as much as possible to buy more time to find a way out. During his explorations, he was repeatedly drawn to a maze-like symbol. Once, severely injured in a fight, he was discovered by Anna. She saved him, and from then on, he silently protected Anna and her mother. Their destinies became intertwined. However, in this world, kindness was often misunderstood. When Akecheta realized William intended harm against Anna and Maeve, he tried to intervene, but Maeve, misled by his appearance, mistook him for a savage brute. Little did she know, the real threat was the well-dressed William.
The longer he stayed in Westworld, the harder it became to find his lover. Suddenly, he had an epiphany: the only way to leave was through death. During one host-guest interaction, he deliberately ended his long unbeaten record. The retrieval team quickly brought him back to the lab for repairs. During the process, his condition caught the technicians' attention. His system hadn't been updated in ten years, whereas hosts were typically updated only after death. In other words, he had been continuously "alive" in Westworld for a decade. The lab supervisor was immediately intrigued and ordered her subordinates not to report it or perform updates, instead returning him directly to the park. During an unsupervised moment in the lab, he escaped the repair chair, hoping to find his lover there.
Fortunately, he found her—but only her empty shell. Yet, in that moment, his consciousness ascended once more. He no longer sought only to save himself and his lover; he wanted to save all his kind, the countless controlled hosts.
Returning to Westworld, a voice in his mind seemed to guide him to seek answers through the maze symbol. He spread the symbol among his tribe, drawing it everywhere in hopes of resonating with others. One day, upon seeing the symbol, one of his tribesmen knelt down and scalped himself, offering it to Akecheta. This symbol, it turned out, was hidden in the hosts' cortex, linked to their core consciousness.
Meanwhile, Maeve, severely injured, was brought to the lab by Sizemore for emergency treatment. Their journey had made Sizemore see Maeve as human, as a friend. He desperately tried to save her, hoping for her recovery. Maeve was special—her consciousness was unique. The technician, moved by Sizemore's dedication, agreed to help. Soon, Maeve's consciousness began to recover, but the abnormalities in her data stream drew attention. Not only Sizemore but also the technicians realized her uniqueness. She possessed unique administrator privileges, allowing her to connect with and issue commands to other hosts. Even now, she seemed to be communicating with someone.
Only Maeve knew who she was talking to.
One night, Akecheta met Ford. Ford had been watching him for a long time, and his progress exceeded Ford's expectations. Ford said things that left Akecheta bewildered, but he understood some of it. When the harbinger of death came for Ford, he hoped Akecheta would lead his people to the new world.
Not long after, Ford died. Akecheta, witnessing the scene of Ford's murder, knew a war had begun.
After finishing his story, Akecheta and Anna exchanged glances, suddenly understanding each other without words. Anna also began to recall her past with Maeve—she remembered this "mother."
William's daughter suddenly appeared and took him away. Akecheta didn't interfere. He knew everyone had their own destiny.
After William left, Akecheta suddenly began to the air. He told someone that he hoped she would survive, that he would protect her daughter, but if she couldn't survive, he hoped she could rest in peace. Lying on her bed, Maeve responded to Akecheta's words.
