Kim’s face was cut by shards of glass in several places, and her right hand was fractured, but luckily, her body was otherwise unharmed. Thinking back, she felt a twinge of fear—she couldn’t even remember running three red lights before the crash. In her current condition, it would be hard to continue working. She returned home with her right hand in a cast, and Jimmy took careful care of her. Still, the strong-willed Kim tried her best not to ask for help, even eating breakfast with one hand.

Jimmy planned to sublet their office. After this incident, he hoped Kim would work from home. Even if the settlement money could cover the rent, he didn’t want Kim to be away from home as much as before, sleeping on the office sofa all night. It was only then that Kim deeply felt the warm thoughtfulness beneath Jimmy’s unruly exterior.

Having brushed death’s door, Kim also came to a realization: her overly strong-willed, perfectionist personality had not only tormented herself but also dragged Jimmy down. Jimmy had first taken a job at Davis & Main for her, then rented a large office to fulfill her idea of "two firms under one roof," and after being suspended, he had worked tirelessly to pay half the costs. If all this was harming both of them, it would be better to live a more relaxed life. She canceled all her work arrangements, referring both the Mesa Verde Bank and Billy’s business to Rich’s law firm. Then she went to a video store and bought a dozen movies to revisit her favorite stories from childhood.

Meanwhile, Jimmy visited Mrs. Landry with a gift, helping her plan how to take a European trip with her girlfriends once she received the settlement money. But Mrs. Landry couldn’t cheer up—her old friends hadn’t forgiven her. In those friends’ eyes, Mrs. Landry was a flip-flopper. Jimmy hadn’t expected things to escalate this far, and despite trying various methods, he couldn’t resolve the elderly ladies’ resentment toward Mrs. Landry.

Jimmy was left with one last option, though he was reluctant to use it. Early in the morning, he went to Sandpiper Crossing to substitute for a yoga teacher who had a last-minute emergency. Wearing a wireless headset, he guided the elderly through various chair yoga poses with his commands. At that moment, Attorney Erin from Davis & Main walked in and insisted on talking to Jimmy. Outside, Erin accused him of abusing the elderly’s trust for personal gain and inciting them to accept the settlement. Jimmy put on a rogue’s demeanor, saying he didn’t care whose interests he harmed or whose feelings he hurt for the sake of $1 million.

These words were clearly transmitted back to the loudspeakers in the classroom through the headset Jimmy had "forgotten" to turn off. The elderly forgave Mrs. Landry, but Jimmy’s reputation was ruined. Of course, Erin had collaborated with Jimmy to stage this scene—and Jimmy knew he could no longer expect to build a career among the elderly.

There was no way to stop Hector from seizing Nacho’s father’s small workshop; no matter how unwilling Nacho was, it was useless. When he saw his father trying to drive Hector away, Nacho had to remind him in a low voice to think about their relatives still living in Mexico. In the end, his father compromised, but Nacho could see the anger on Hector’s face. Hector’s distrust of his father was equivalent to a death sentence for him. Nacho hardened his heart—he would strike first.

That night, Nacho received a call telling him to bring a gun and negotiate with Gustavo. He arrived at the negotiation site early, hoping to kill Hector before the others arrived. But before he could act, two other men drove up, so he had to give up. However, karma prevailed: during the negotiation, Hector became emotionally agitated and suffered a heart attack. He tremblingly pulled out his medicine bottle, poured the capsules into his mouth, but still collapsed in convulsions, with capsules scattering all over the floor.

Seeing this, Gustavo immediately stepped forward to help and ordered the others to call an ambulance. While everyone else was in a panic, only Nacho picked up the capsules on the floor and secretly stuffed them into his pocket. Gustavo watched this all happen.

Kim’s incident also made Jimmy reflect: life was so fragile that loved ones could be separated by life and death in an instant. He went to Chuck’s house, sincerely hoping to resolve their past grievances. But as soon as he entered, he was shocked to find music playing in Chuck’s house, with all electrical appliances back in their original places and working normally.

Chuck had completely fallen out with Howard. He had thought a single lawsuit would make Howard reverse his decision, but Howard was determined. He used his own money plus a loan to pay Chuck $3 million upfront for a third of his shares, with the remaining amount to be paid in two installments. Chuck could now be said to have been abandoned by the firm—but even so, he didn’t need Jimmy’s pity. He had let Jimmy in only to prove he could take care of himself and no longer needed anyone’s help.

Yet Chuck was not as strong as he thought. That night, he suffered from insomnia, and the familiar pain returned. He got out of bed, went downstairs, and turned off all the circuit breakers. But even in the dark room, the pain didn’t disappear. He didn’t sleep well all night. When dawn came, Chuck went to the backyard to check the electricity meter and found its dial still spinning. It was the same even after turning off all breakers and checking all switches—even after cutting all the wires, that damn dial still didn’t stop.

Chuck felt that mysterious electromagnetic waves were constantly interfering with him. He touched every wall with his hands, and whenever he felt pain, he chiseled the wall open. The house was riddled with holes, but he still found nothing using electricity. Sweating profusely, Chuck refused to rest. Furious that the meter kept running, he smashed it to pieces with a baseball bat.

After all day, all the appliances in the house were disassembled and thrown outside. Chuck huddled in a chair wrapped in a space blanket, but he still felt the pain clinging to him like a bone. Rebecca, Howard, Jimmy—they had all left him. A wordless loneliness filled him with despair. Chuck kicked the table in front of him again and again; each jolt moved the oil lamp on the table closer to the edge. Finally, a flame erupted in the room, illuminating the dark night.
