Two girls were locked in a room when Mike Ehrmantraut suddenly arrived with his men. He told them Nacho would never come back, ordered them to leave immediately, and handed them a sum of money, urging them never to return. Though the girls had no idea where to go, they agreed.

Saul Goodman tracked down Betsy and Craig Kettleman and offered to be their lawyer. It was precisely because of Goodman that the Kettlemans had lost their previous lawsuit, forcing their children to attend public school. Unsurprisingly, the couple distrusted him completely. Goodman claimed he had evidence to get their conviction overturned and prove their innocence. Betsy refused to believe him, but Craig, desperate for a resolution, eventually signed the retainer agreement. Betsy then demanded to see the evidence.

Goodman revealed that the lawyer who had represented the Kettlemans earlier—Howard Hamlin—had been involved in drug use, and that his handling of their case was flawed, giving them grounds for an appeal. Betsy dismissed this as irrelevant, declaring on the spot that she had been tricked into signing and that no attorney-client relationship existed. Goodman was furious but powerless to change her mind.

Shortly after, Craig and Betsy went to Hamlin’s law firm to report Howard’s drug use and request a reopening of their case. However, the firm’s managing partner dismissed their claims for lack of evidence. He also warned Craig that overturning a prior conviction would be extremely difficult, regardless of who represented him, and refused to take their case. Disappointed, Betsy said they would find another lawyer, but as soon as they left, the partner ordered someone to locate Howard Hamlin.

Varga had been hiding in a motel, constantly monitoring the surroundings—though the tension left him irritable. When he spotted someone watching him from the shadows, he kicked out the room’s air conditioning unit, climbed through the vent, and snuck into the watcher’s room. He confronted the man, demanding to know who was pulling the strings. Just then, the man’s phone rang. Varga knocked him unconscious, hotwired a car, and tried to flee—only to be ambushed by a team of pursuers. He ducked into the car’s trunk, and as the men searched the area, he connected the wires to start the vehicle. But he was spotted, and shots were fired at him—until the two bald Salamanca brothers arrived and took out the shooters. Vowing to capture Varga alive, the brothers blocked his escape route. Varga attempted to charge through, triggering a gunfight, and his car crashed into another vehicle ahead.

Mike told Gustavo Fring that Varga was being hunted and requested permission to lead a team to retrieve him, fearing Varga would reveal their secrets if captured. Gustavo refused, instead ordering Varga’s father to be brought to him—much to Mike’s objection. At that moment, the phone rang; the caller demanded to speak to Gustavo directly.

Guzmán arranged a meeting with Goodman, and Kim Wexler insisted on accompanying him. Goodman agreed. The next day, the two met with Betsy and Craig. Betsy announced that she had consulted four lawyers, none of whom had heard of the "ineffective assistance of counsel" clause Goodman had mentioned. She accused him of scheming to smear Howard Hamlin using their names, and the couple expressed their anger over the situation.

Goodman dismissed their allegations as nonsense but offered financial compensation if they felt wronged. To his surprise, Betsy and Craig rejected the money, insisting he keep his promise to exonerate Craig and clear their names. They cared nothing about his motives—they just wanted their old life back.

As the argument escalated, Kim pulled out her phone and called the Criminal Investigation Division, asking for Justin Stengel. She reported the Kettlemans’ illegal scheme: embezzling half the funds from loans their small business had issued. She warned Betsy that she could face two years in prison, while Craig—with a prior record—could be sentenced to 100 years. Betsy snatched the phone and hung up, agreeing to do whatever Kim demanded. Kim ordered them to return all embezzled money and deny ever having met Howard Hamlin. The couple had no choice but to comply.

When Goodman exited the building, Kim was waiting for him. He handed the Kettlemans their compensation and teased Kim, joking that she was like a big bad wolf terrifying little bunnies.
