Jesse tried to turn over a new leaf and went to town to find a new job, but he couldn’t handle any of them. Just then, he ran into his old friend Badger, who asked if Jesse was willing to cook meth with him.

Walt and Skyler attended the birthday party of their wealthy friend Elliott. Walt had once co-founded a company called "Grey Matter" with Elliott, and after Walt left, Elliott became a billionaire. Elliott offered Walt a job, but Walt refused. When Elliott mentioned the new position came with excellent health insurance, Walt left in anger.

Walt asked Skyler if she had told Elliott about his condition. Skyler admitted it and apologized to Walt.

Jesse decided to go back to his old ways. He teamed up with Badger for a few deals, but the purity of their meth was never ideal. Badger thought purity didn’t matter, and the two got into a fight over it. Jesse drove away from Badger in the RV.

Walt’s son tried to buy beer, an act seen as his way of venting over the conflict with Walt. After Walt’s family found out he had rejected Elliott’s offer, they decided to intervene.

Skyler invited her sister and brother-in-law to discuss the matter. She confessed that she couldn’t bear the thought of Walt dying and was determined to persuade him to undergo treatment. Walt’s son thought Walt was being cowardly about getting treatment.

Walt voiced his opinion: he didn’t want to become a weak, chemotherapy-ridden invalid. Instead, he wanted to live with dignity—short but honorable.

The next morning, Walt told Skyler he had changed his mind and was willing to accept treatment.
Walt received a call from Elliott’s wife, who tried to convince him to take the job, but Walt still refused.

Walt tracked down Jesse to get back into cooking meth together.
