The Razor Crest shuddered and finally reached the planet Trask. The landing chip was unresponsive, and fuel was nearly depleted. With no other choice, the Mandalorian plunged straight into the atmosphere, risking scorching heat, and aimed for a seaport floating on the ocean's surface. Just miles above the sea, the climb engines roared to life at full power, drastically reducing their speed. They were almost at the landing point when the unreliable engines finally gave out. The Razor Crest somersaulted and crashed into the sea.

A landspeeder crane from the dock fished the Razor Crest out of the water and placed it on a landing pad. Only then could the Mandalorian, the Child, and the Frog Lady exit the cockpit and come ashore. The Frog Lady was reunited with her long-waiting husband, and the Mandalorian, in turn, got the information he sought: someone at the local inn had seen individuals wearing Beskar armor.

At the inn, the Mandalorian paid three Republic credits before the innkeeper summoned the witness. According to the fisherman, Mandalorians had been spotted on a small island a few hours' journey from the port. Although the source seemed dubious, the Mandalorian was willing to take the chance to find his people.

The Mandalorian boarded the fisherman's trawler with the Child in his pram. Less than an hour into their journey into deep waters, the fisherman opened a metal cage embedded in the deck. His assistant hauled up several large fish from the sea to feed the massive mamacore lurking in a tank below the deck. While the Mandalorian was distracted by the bubbles rising from the tank, the fisherman suddenly shoved the pram into the water. A gigantic mouth emerged from the depths, swallowing the pram and the Child whole. Without a second thought, the Mandalorian leaped into the tank. The fisherman signaled, and the metal cage on the deck slammed shut, trapping the Mandalorian underwater.

They were pirates, and their goal was the priceless Beskar armor. Just as the Mandalorian was running out of options, three Mandalorians descended from the sky, took down the fisherman and his crew, and rescued him. They also retrieved the badly dented pram from the mamacore's stomach. Fortunately, the Child was unharmed.

When the Mandalorian saw his rescuers remove their helmets, revealing their faces, his heart sank with disappointment. However, these three were indeed Mandalorians. Their leader, Bo-Katan Kryze, was born on Mandalore and was a member of the royal Kryze clan. She had fought in the Great Purge against the Empire. Her armor had been passed down through three generations of her family. Now, she was the last of her line and its sole heir.

From the Mandalorian's surprised tone, Bo-Katan deduced he was a "Child of the Watch," though he himself was unaware of the term. The Children of the Watch were a cult of religious zealots who had long separated from mainstream Mandalorian society. This sect was dedicated to restoring the ancient Mandalorian "Way," which consisted of their various strange beliefs, such as never removing one's helmet in the presence of others.
Feeling disappointed, the Mandalorian flew back to the port with the Child. From a distance, he saw the trawler engulfed in flames and three jetpacks streaking into the sky, leaving white trails. Unexpectedly, the innkeeper and his gang, who were in league with the pirates, surrounded the Mandalorian. As he was figuring out an escape, Bo-Katan and her team descended once again, saving him.

Having received their help twice, the Mandalorian felt obliged to buy them a drink. Seated in the bar, Bo-Katan made a request: to reclaim Mandalore. Trask was a black market port where Imperial remnants collected weapons and equipment. Bo-Katan planned to use those weapons to retake their homeworld.
But all the Mandalorian knew was that Mandalore was cursed, and anyone who went there would die. He had little interest in Bo-Katan's cause, focusing only on returning the helpless Child to the Jedi. Bo-Katan looked surprised. Upon further questioning, she realized the Mandalorian knew next to nothing about the Jedi and was unaware they were nearly extinct. She then offered a deal: if he helped them seize the weapons, she would tell him where to find a Jedi.

Docked at a large landing platform on the other side of the port was an Imperial Gozanti-class freighter loaded with weapons. The Mandalorian first entrusted the Child to the care of the Frog couple. He then met up with Bo-Katan and her two comrades. According to port regulations, ships could only accelerate to reach space after leaving port airspace. Using this brief, slow ascent period, the four landed on the freighter's hull, pried open a hatch, and easily dispatched a squad of incompetent stormtroopers, heading straight for the bridge.
The captain, desperate, ignored air control regulations and ordered an immediate ascent to escape the atmosphere at maximum speed and jump to hyperspace to rendezvous with the fleet. However, this didn't stop Bo-Katan from taking control of the entire ship except the bridge. The Mandalorian would never have guessed that the captain received the order to crash the ship from his old nemesis from Nevarro, Moff Gideon.

Braving blaster fire from the bridge guards, the Mandalorian threw two micro grenades, helping Bo-Katan seize the bridge and pull the ship's nose up just before it crashed into the sea. Bo-Katan was most interested in the whereabouts of the Darksaber—the lightsaber forged by Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian inducted into the Jedi Order—which held immense significance for her. But the captain bit down on a hidden suicide electro-shock device, denying her any chance of interrogation.

As the freighter prepared to jump to hyperspace and escape Imperial pursuit, Bo-Katan kept her promise. She told the Mandalorian to go to Corvus in the Shili system, where Ahsoka Tano—Anakin Skywalker's former Padawan and an ex-Jedi—was located on that forest planet. The Mandalorian jumped from the freighter and flew back to the docks. He retrieved the Child from the Frog couple, who was happily watching tadpoles hatch. The Mon Calamari repair technicians here were terrible, a far cry from Peli Motto's skills. With a sigh, the Mandalorian paid a hefty repair bill. The Razor Crest shuddered once more as it lifted off, lurching unsteadily on its course towards the Corvus system.
