The planet Tython loomed before them, and the Mandalorian felt a mix of emotions—joy at nearing his goal, yet sorrow at the impending separation from the Child. From above, he could see the seeing stone atop the mountain. After landing at the base, he lifted the Child and used his jetpack to ascend to the summit.

The peak was surrounded by a circle of four massive stones, with a partially buried circular stone at the center. Placing the Child on the stone seemed to have no effect at first. Just as the Mandalorian grew puzzled, a ship descended on the other side of the mountain, putting him on alert.

When he turned back, he saw the Child had entered a meditative state. The stone, sensing the Force, emitted a blue energy field that shot straight into the sky. The Mandalorian could no longer approach—the field enveloped Grogu, repelling anything that touched it. Left with no choice, he descended halfway down the mountain to intercept the newcomers.

To his surprise, the newcomer revealed he had been tracking him since Tatooine—all for the armor the Mandalorian had obtained from Cobb Vanth. The man was Boba Fett, son of the legendary bounty hunter Jango Fett. Jango had fought in the Mandalorian civil wars and was gifted the armor. Now, Boba, following in his father’s footsteps, claimed the right to reclaim it.

If the Mandalorian refused, another old acquaintance—Fennec Shand—would train her rifle on Grogu atop the mountain. Against two skilled opponents, the Mandalorian knew he stood little chance, especially with Grogu vulnerable. Boba, a seasoned warrior himself, understood the cost of making an enemy of the Mandalorian. He proposed a deal: he would take the armor and guarantee Grogu’s safety—especially since the bounty on the Child had risen to an irresistible sum.

As they spoke, an Imperial transport descended and landed near the Razor Crest. With no other options, the Mandalorian turned and sprinted back toward the summit, leaving the platoon of stormtroopers to Boba and Fennec.

When he reached the peak, he found the energy field had grown even stronger—he could no longer get near Grogu. A second transport flew overhead, and the firefight at the mountain’s base intensified. Fennec began to struggle, forcing the Mandalorian to temporarily leave Grogu and join the battle.

Boba located his father’s armor inside the Razor Crest and donned it. With weapons systems designed by his father, he turned the tide of the battle effortlessly. The stormtroopers, recognizing their disadvantage, retreated to their transport and attempted to flee—only to be shot down mid-air by the missile system on Boba’s back.

But before the Mandalorian could catch his breath, a laser blast struck the Razor Crest, instantly obliterating the ship.

An Imperial light cruiser hung in Tython’s orbit. At Moff Gideon’s command, four sleek, black dark trooper droids launched from the ship and headed straight for the mountain peak.

When the Mandalorian turned back toward the summit, he saw the blue protective field had vanished. He knew something was wrong.

Grogu had exhausted himself using too much of the Force and now lay unconscious. Gideon had waited for this moment. He deployed the dark troopers to capture the Child and destroyed the Razor Crest to prevent pursuit.

Boba, in the Slave I, attempted to intercept the returning dark troopers but held his fire, fearing he might harm Grogu.

With Gideon successful, the light cruiser jumped to hyperspace. The Slave I was incapable of tracking it. The Razor Crest was completely destroyed—all that remained was the Beskar spear.

Boba and Fennec kept their word: until Grogu was safe, they would not leave. Aboard the Slave I, the Mandalorian returned to Nevarro and asked Marshal Cara Dune to search the prison records for a specific individual: Migs Mayfeld, a former Imperial sharpshooter. Only he could locate Gideon’s light cruiser.

Aiding a prisoner’s escape violated every rule of her position, but the moment Cara learned Grogu was in Gideon’s hands, she did not hesitate.
