Since the Mandalorian had taken the target, former Imperial warlords had launched a vicious retaliation against the guild on Nevarro. Now, Nevarro was under the control of stormtroopers, severely disrupting the guild's operations. Thus, Greef proposed a "win-win" solution: use the Child as bait to arrange another meeting. During the meeting, the Mandalorian would take the opportunity to assassinate the former Imperial leader, lifting the siege on Nevarro. In return, Greef would cancel the bounty on the Mandalorian, clear his name, and end his life on the run.
The offer was hard to refuse. After careful consideration, the Mandalorian returned to Sorgan and recruited Cara. While she would normally never abandon her secluded life, the mention of the former Empire stirred her instincts as a former Rebel shock trooper. She agreed to join without hesitation.
Aboard the Razor Crest, as Cara and the Mandalorian discussed the plan, the ship suddenly shuddered, and alarms blared from the control panel. The Child had once again unscrewed the control lever, treating it as a toy. It was clear someone needed to keep an eye on the little one.
The Mandalorian thought of someone he could trust: Kuiil. They traveled to the vapor farms of Arvala-7, where Kuiil warmly welcomed them. However, when the Mandalorian spotted an IG unit serving tea, he immediately drew his blaster. Kuiil quickly intervened, explaining that he had found the droid's remains in a scavenger camp, reconnected its neural pathways, and reprogrammed it into a labor droid. But the Mandalorian's childhood trauma—watching droids destroy his home—made it impossible for him to trust any machine.
Grateful for the peace the Mandalorian had brought to the valley, Kuiil agreed to join the mission, bringing along three blurrg mounts and the IG droid. During the journey to Nevarro, Cara and the Mandalorian engaged in an arm-wrestling match. The Child, seemingly fearing for the Mandalorian's safety, raised a small hand from its crib. Suddenly, Cara felt an invisible force choking her, nearly cutting off her breath. The Mandalorian, having witnessed this power in the mudhorn's nest, quickly explained to the Child that Cara was a friend. Cara gasped for air as the pressure released. Kuiil watched in astonishment—he had never seen such an ability.
The Razor Crest landed in Nevarro's lava fields. The Mandalorian ordered the IG droid to remain on the ship. Riding the blurrgs, the Mandalorian, Cara, and Kuiil met Greef, who was waiting with three guild hunters. They planned to cross the lava flats and reach Nevarro by dawn.
That night, as they camped, they were attacked by venomous claw creatures. One guild hunter and two blurrgs were lost in the skirmish. Greef suffered a deep gash on his arm, and poison quickly spread through his bloodstream. Stranded in the middle of nowhere with no medical help in sight, the group was helpless. Then, the Child clumsily climbed out of its crib, toddled over to Greef, and placed its small hand on the wounded arm. Within moments, the blackened skin returned to its normal color, the wound healed completely, and not even a scar remained. Everyone stared in awe—was this the true value of the Child?
By daybreak, Nevarro was visible in the distance. As Greef led the way, he suddenly turned and shot two guild hunters who were sneaking up behind the Mandalorian and Cara. Greef confessed that his original plan had been to kill the Mandalorian and deliver the Child to the client for a massive reward. But after the previous night's events, he could no longer go through with it. Instead, he vowed to honor their agreement: eliminate the client and clear the Mandalorian's name.
After a moment's thought, the Mandalorian took the Child from its crib and handed it to Kuiil, instructing him to return to the ship. He then sealed the crib and proceeded toward the city with Cara and Greef.
At the city gates, they passed through stormtrooper checkpoints and entered Nevarro. The streets were heavily patrolled, with stormtroopers stationed everywhere. Inside the former guild cantina, they encountered the white-haired client again. The Mandalorian assumed that killing him would cause the stormtroopers to disband. But as they prepared to strike, something unexpected happened.
A stormtrooper whispered something to the client, who hurriedly opened a communicator. The hologram of a former Imperial general appeared, expressing skepticism that the client had obtained the target. Before the Mandalorian and his team could react, a hailstorm of blaster fire ripped through the cantina, killing the client instantly. The Mandalorian, Cara, and Greef scrambled for cover, peering out to find the cantina surrounded by stormtroopers. When the Mandalorian tried to contact Kuiil, there was no response—he would never answer again.
