A VIP patient arrived at the hospital—Bobby, the most famous athlete currently. The hospital attached great importance to this case. Bobby suffered from severe arm problems due to a ligament strain, and Dr. Melendez and Dr. Andrews were in charge of his surgery. Additionally, they needed to select two out of three doctors—Jared, Brown, and Shaun—as assistants for the operation. It was a rare learning opportunity, and all three were eager to participate. After drawing lots, Brown was unfortunately eliminated; instead, she was assigned to work as an assistant under Dr. Coyle.

One day, Aaron called Shaun into his office. He introduced Shaun to Melissa, a well-known local psychologist, and hoped Shaun would accept her as his personal therapist. Although Shaun was reluctant deep down, he still agreed. However, after work that evening, Shaun stood watching the approaching bus, feeling extremely distressed. In the end, he decided not to go home.

To avoid meeting Melissa, Shaun found a mattress and a simple sheet in the hospital storage room, spread them out on the empty floor, and planned to spend the night there. The next morning, Shaun ran into Aaron, who was on his way to work, in the hospital elevator. Aaron was angry when he learned Shaun hadn’t gone home the previous night, but he didn’t blame Shaun. Instead, he made a proposal: if Shaun agreed to meet Melissa, Aaron would buy him his favorite surround sound system. Shaun was somewhat tempted and agreed to the deal.

During Bobby’s surgery, Shaun noticed some issues and suggested giving Bobby an MRI to rule out potential risks. However, Dr. Melendez thought this was unnecessary and rejected Shaun’s proposal. Later, when Shaun was examining Bobby, Bobby noticed Shaun’s unease, so they started chatting. Bobby encouraged Shaun to speak up boldly about his ideas and make Melendez respect him. Inspired by these words, Shaun decided to insist on his proposal and conduct a full-body examination on Bobby. Eventually, Melendez agreed.

The examination revealed that Bobby had numerous schwannomas on his arms. Dr. Melendez was shocked when he saw the results; he immediately consulted with a neurologist to discuss countermeasures. After hearing Melendez’s explanation, the neurologist revealed that she had known Bobby before—he had once had cancer, and the tumors might be a result of cancer spread. Upon learning this, Melendez and his team approached Bobby to verify the truth. Bobby had no choice but to confess his medical history; he had hidden everything just because he didn’t want to affect the upcoming competition. For safety reasons, Melendez asked Shaun to conduct a thorough full-body scan on Bobby.

Brown was assigned to work as Dr. Coyle’s assistant. The two collaborated seamlessly to perform a fasciotomy on a female patient named Hazel, and the surgery was highly successful. After the operation, Brown and Coyle went to the ward for a follow-up visit. While examining Hazel, Coyle deliberately got close to Brown, giving instructions and praising her excellent medical skills in an overly intimate manner. Brown felt very uncomfortable and guessed Coyle’s intentions, but since Coyle was her superior, she had no choice but to endure it silently.

The next day, when Brown examined Hazel again, Coyle was not present, and Hazel chatted with Brown. Hazel revealed that she had ended up in this condition because she was threatened by her male boss, but she didn’t dare to resist—and she understood Brown’s situation. Unexpectedly, as Hazel talked, she became more and more emotional, suddenly lost consciousness due to difficulty breathing. Fortunately, Brown saved her in time.

In the ward, while Hazel was in a deep sleep, Coyle took the opportunity to express his intentions to Brown—he wanted to invite her to spend the night with him. Brown was extremely angry and rejected Coyle’s request. Coyle then threatened her, warning her not to refuse a kind offer and force him to take harsh measures. During her break, Brown asked Shaun and Jared if she could be transferred to another position, but both refused. However, when Jared learned that Brown had been harassed, he decided to talk to Coyle as her "boyfriend" and threatened Coyle to stay away from her. This action enraged Coyle, who reported Jared’s threat to Dr. Andrews. As a result, Jared was fired.

During his examination of Bobby, Shaun discovered that there was also a tumor on Bobby’s central nervous system. Due to its special location, if the tumor was removed, Bobby would become a vegetable. Everyone felt dejected upon seeing this result, and Melendez reported the matter to Aaron.

After reviewing the case, Aaron had a sudden idea: they could remove the tumor, but the cost would be cutting out a small piece of the red nucleus, which would leave Bobby paralyzed on one side of his body. When Aaron explained everything to Bobby, Bobby agreed to the surgery without hesitation—after all, he believed being paralyzed on one side was far better than death. In the end, with Aaron as the lead surgeon, Bobby’s operation went very smoothly. Bobby remained optimistic, believing that through exercise, the paralyzed half of his body would gradually recover.
Inspired by Bobby after this incident, Shaun decided to tell Aaron his true feelings from the bottom of his heart. However, Aaron didn’t listen at all; he even forced Shaun to go home with him to meet Melissa. Shaun became emotional and argued with Aaron, accidentally slapping Aaron in the face before running away. When Aaron chased after Shaun to his house, he found that Shaun had packed his luggage and disappeared.
