Carl pulled through the crisis and was out of danger. Otis had lost his life at the hospital while searching for a respirator for Carl, so the group built a stone grave for him. Otis’ wife asked Shane to recount how Otis died; Shane remained calm and made up a false story about Otis’ cause of death, deceiving everyone present.

There were several wells on the farm. Dale discovered a living walker trapped in one of the wells—its body had become swollen and bloated from being submerged in water for a long time. After a discussion, the group decided to hoist the walker out of the well. Even though the walker had turned, it hadn’t contaminated the well water yet; they believed that once the walker was pulled out, they could continue using the well for water.

Glenn, being small and slender, was the right person to be lowered into the well on a rope to slip a noose around the walker’s head. The group secured one end of the rope to an iron post by the well. Glenn, tied to the rope, descended into the well and picked up another rope to loop around the walker’s head. The walker lifted its bloated face and reached out toward Glenn, making it hard for him to accurately slip the rope around its neck. The others stood at the well’s edge, gripping the rope tightly to stabilize Glenn’s body. Unexpectedly, the iron post suddenly collapsed, and the rope tied to it began sliding rapidly down into the well. Glenn barely avoided falling onto the walker; the group scrambled to pull him back up to the ground, where he collapsed, trembling with fear and gasping for breath.

The group held onto the rope and struggled to pull the walker up to the surface. However, the walker split in two—its lower body fell back into the well. A lot of blood spilled from the walker’s severed torso and dripped into the well. The group looked on in despair, knowing the well water was now contaminated.

Glenn and Maggie went to a nearby town to scavenge for supplies. When they entered a store, Maggie took the initiative to have sex with Glenn. After their intimacy, they rode back to the farm. Glenn said nothing as he handed a pack of daily necessities to Lori. Lori took the items and watched Glenn walk away without a word; confusion crossed her face, and she couldn’t understand why Glenn had become so quiet.

Sophia was still missing, with no trace of her. Carol was consumed by worry and sadness every day. Daryl picked a flower and placed it at the door of Carol’s room. Carol didn’t quite understand why Daryl had left the flower, but Daryl simply wanted to comfort her through this small gesture.

As night fell, Lori took a pregnancy test and left the house. She squatted down in a grassy area; the test showed that she was pregnant. The news of the baby didn’t bring her joy—instead, Lori felt overwhelmed with sorrow. She lowered her head, hugged her knees, and burst into tears.
