Daryl and Merle returned to the prison, and Rick detained Merle. Merle warned Rick that the group had already angered the Governor, who would never let any member of the prison group off easily.
Hershel sat down next to Merle to chat. He had long heard that Merle was arrogant and overbearing, yet he still talked to Merle about passages from the Bible. To his surprise, Merle recited a philosophical verse from the Bible in front of Hershel.
Andrea wanted to go to the prison to meet her former teammates. Milton reported Andrea’s movements to the Governor, who then ordered Milton to assist Andrea in capturing walkers in the woods.
After catching a walker, Andrea went to the outside of the prison. Maggie spotted her through the scope of a sniper rifle. Rick led his teammates out of the prison to kill several walkers nearby. Since Andrea was now aligned with the Governor, Rick remained vigilant and had Andrea searched thoroughly.
Inside the prison, Andrea hugged Carol. With Shane and Lori already dead, Andrea asked to tour the prison’s interior, but Rick refused her request.
Carol talked to Andrea about Rick—mentioning that Rick had killed his close friend Shane. After hearing this, Andrea concluded that Rick had become a cold-blooded leader.
When Andrea was ready to leave the prison and return to the Governor, Rick provided her with a car. Michonne watched Andrea with a complicated expression as Andrea drove away from the prison toward the Governor’s base.
Daryl planned to go out on an errand, but Rick asked him to stay in the prison to keep an eye on Merle. Rick worried that Merle, who didn’t fit in with the group, might do something troublesome, and he hoped Daryl would keep Merle under control.
As night fell, everyone rested inside the prison. Beth had nothing to do and began to sing a song a cappella. Everyone stared at her, transfixed, and smiles of joy spread across their faces.
That night, Andrea stayed with the Governor. After they had sex, the Governor fell fast asleep in bed. Andrea quietly got up, found a dagger, and returned to the bedside. The Governor was sound asleep, unaware that his life was in danger as Andrea raised the dagger, ready to stab him. Yet she hesitated, unable to bring herself to kill him.
After a painful internal struggle, Andrea turned away and walked to the window to breathe in fresh air, trying to calm her mind.
