Rick, his son Carl, and Michonne traveled together. The three of them were heading to a small town in a car. On the way, a survivor called out to them for help, but Rick remained expressionless and paid no attention.
As the car continued forward, they reached a section of road where several abandoned cars were parked. A few walkers approached the car carrying the three. Rick pulled out his pistol and reminded Carl to cover his ears. Carl did as he was told, and Rick rolled down the car window slightly, then shot and killed the walkers outside through the gap.
The three finally arrived at their destination, got out of the car, and walked on foot. Not a single living person could be seen in the town. Someone had set up barriers made of sharp wooden stakes all over the streets to fend off walkers. When Rick stepped into the wooden stake formation, he suddenly noticed a man appearing on the upper floor of a nearby building. The man raised a gun and aimed at Rick, so Rick quickly hid under a pile of wooden stakes. The man fired several shots at the spot where Rick was hiding, while Michonne quietly slipped upstairs to find the man who had shot.
The gunman came downstairs to look for Rick, and Michonne quietly went down and knocked him unconscious. Rick took off the man's mask and recognized him as Morgan, his savior.
Morgan had once saved Rick's life. Rick and Michonne worked together to help Morgan back upstairs. Morgan had set up many traps in his residence, so Rick and Michonne carefully made their way through the traps and entered the room.
Morgan was unconscious and unresponsive. Rick and Michonne helped him onto a wooden bed together. The room was filled with various guns, and on a blackboard, Morgan had drawn a simple map of the entire city.
Michonne and Carl went out to search for supplies, while Rick checked the various guns in the room. Morgan woke up suddenly and launched a surprise attack on Rick. It took Rick some effort to subdue Morgan.
Morgan was in a state of emotional collapse and was desperate to die. Rick brought up the time when Morgan had saved him. With Rick's consolation, Morgan's mood improved, and Rick untied him. Just then, Michonne and Carl returned to the room. Rick said goodbye to Morgan and took some guns with him before leaving.
Before leaving, Carl apologized to Morgan. Since Morgan had been knocked unconscious and injured not long before, Carl felt deeply guilty and took the initiative to say sorry.
Before getting in the car, Michonne mentioned that Rick had been having hallucinations of his deceased loved ones—Rick had once seen Lori, who had passed away. Michonne, who had gone through similar experiences, told him she had once seen her deceased boyfriend too.
The three of them drove back the same way they had come. The survivor who had appeared on the road earlier was already dead. Rick got out of the car, picked up the backpack the survivor had left behind, got back in, and drove away.
