Michonne left the temporary sanctuary established by the Governor. On the surface, the Governor appeared righteous and upright, but in reality, he was sinister, vicious, and ruthless in killing. The Governor feared Michonne might reveal the sanctuary’s location to the outside world, so he sent Merle and several other men to hunt her down.

Grief-stricken over his wife Lori’s death, Rick began experiencing auditory hallucinations. A landline phone rang, and Rick picked up the receiver to talk to a caller who didn’t exist.

Andrea and a female companion sat on the sanctuary’s wall keeping watch. A walker appeared outside the wall; the female companion raised her gun to aim at it, but Andrea, disregarding her own safety, jumped off the wall and killed the walker with her own hands. The female companion stood on the wall, shocked and angry, watching Andrea slay the walker. Andrea showed no trace of fear toward the walker, and her companion couldn’t understand her reckless behavior.

Rick continued waiting for the non-existent caller to ring again. Hershel, leaning on his crutches, went to the boiler room to find Rick. Rick fetched a chair for Hershel, who sat down and talked with him.

In the woods, Michonne was besieged by Merle and the other men. Merle ordered his men to attack Michonne, but she was highly skilled and killed several of them in succession. Amid their fierce battle, a large group of walkers appeared in the woods. Merle was forced to let Michonne escape as he focused on fending off the walkers. Covered in blood, Michonne emerged from the woods—only to freeze in place when a group of walkers passed by suddenly. Luckily, the walkers didn’t detect the scent of a living human on her; Michonne’s body was covered in the blood of other walkers, allowing her to narrowly escape danger.

Merle and his men struggled to kill all the walkers in the woods, but Michonne had already disappeared. Merle knew that continuing to search for her would likely lead them to more walkers. Though the Governor had ordered him to kill Michonne without fail, Merle thought it over and decided to lie to the Governor. To cover up his lie, he shot and killed the last surviving member of his team.

Andrea and the Governor had sex and lay naked in bed together. Meanwhile, Merle returned to the sanctuary and went to the outside of the Governor’s room. The Governor opened the door to let Merle in.

Glenn and Maggie were searching for supplies in a small town when Merle suddenly appeared and kidnapped Maggie. Under Merle’s threat, Glenn drove toward the sanctuary. Michonne, hiding nearby, watched the entire scene of the three leaving clearly.
