Merle detained Glenn and Maggie separately in solitary confinement. Glenn had already been beaten by Merle, his face bruised and swollen. Years earlier, Merle had been locked on a rooftop by Rick; to break free from the handcuffs, he had even cut off his own wrist. Rick had long been Merle’s number-one enemy, so Merle interrogated Glenn to find out Rick’s whereabouts.
When Michonne arrived outside the prison, she was attacked by a group of walkers. Rick stood inside the prison, staring at Michonne with vigilance. Exhausted from a gunshot wound, Michonne was no match for the walkers. Rick and his son Carl stepped out of the prison and rescued her.
When Michonne woke up, she reached out to grab the longsword beside her, but Rick held her arm down tightly. Michonne was hostile toward Rick’s group, yet Rick instructed Hershel, the veterinarian, to treat her injuries.
The Governor led Andrea into a house, where an elderly man with a pale face lay on the bed. The old man, named Coleman, was dying. The Governor asked Andrea to assist Dr. Milton in taking care of Coleman in his final moments.
Merle caught a walker and brought it into the room where Glenn was imprisoned. Glenn’s face turned pale with fear as he stared at the walker in front of him—the walker opened its bloodied mouth, as if about to pounce. Merle dropped the walker and left, closing the door behind him.
The Governor went to the room where Maggie was detained. Maggie’s hands were tied, leaving her unable to move freely. The Governor picked up a dagger and cut the ropes binding her. When Maggie refused to reveal her teammates’ whereabouts, the Governor ordered her to stand up. Obeying his command, Maggie stood and removed her outer clothes and bra.
The Governor took the naked Maggie to Glenn’s room. Fearing that Glenn would be harmed, Maggie had no choice but to tell the Governor the prison’s location and the size of their group. After getting the information, the Governor left Maggie behind and led Merle and the others to prepare for a trip to the prison. Trembling with fear, Maggie threw herself into Glenn’s arms.
After Coleman died, he was about to turn into a walker. Milton remained calm and wanted to continue observing the process of Coleman’s transformation. Worried that the situation would spiral out of control, Andrea pulled out a dagger and stabbed Coleman to death.
Led by Michonne, Rick took his team to the sanctuary. As they passed through a forest, they were surrounded by a group of walkers. After a fierce fight, the group fled into a wooden cabin. Dozens of walkers gathered outside the cabin, pounding on the door. Rick led his team to open the door, fought a path through the walkers, and escaped the forest.
As night fell, the group arrived outside the sanctuary. Michonne, familiar with the area, led Rick’s team in sneaking toward the sanctuary’s interior.
