When Monica woke up, she realized her body was reassembling itself. Suddenly aware that her mother was no longer in the hospital bed, she rushed out of the room only to find chaos outside. Many people were experiencing symptoms similar to hers. Just as she felt helpless, Dr. Harry appeared. He was the only one who paid attention to her, but he delivered devastating news: her mother, Maria Rambeau, had passed away due to a recurrence of cancer. Monica was in complete disbelief—she thought she had only been asleep for twenty minutes. Dr. Harry stopped the frantic Monica and told her the truth: Maria had died three years ago, and Monica had been missing for five years.
At S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient Weapon Observation Response Division) headquarters, Monica Rambeau—a close friend of Captain Marvel—returned after the "Blip." Having been gone for so long, she found the world drastically changed. After mentally preparing herself, she returned to her former position at S.W.O.R.D. The organization had become more independent than before. As Maria Rambeau's daughter, Monica should have been the director, but due to her mother's prior interventions, she was now assigned only to Earth-based missions.
Monica arrived in Westview, where FBI Agent Jimmy Woo had been waiting for some time. He had found a witness, but the man's friends and family seemed to have no memory of him, which struck Woo as unusual. After some investigation, he discovered that people's memories had been altered—Westview didn't seem to exist in their认知 (cognition). They were unable to contact anyone in the town, and Monica, like Woo, felt an inexplicable resistance—as if the town itself didn’t want them to enter.
Monica retrieved a drone from the car trunk, but its camera feed flickered. When they looked up, the drone had vanished. Approaching the area, Monica detected an energy field. Ignoring Agent Woo's warning, she reached out and touched it—and was instantly pulled in.
S.W.O.R.D. quickly set up a response base nearby. Lewis arrived with a team of specialists and, during her assessment, discovered that old televisions could pick up signals from inside the town. Meanwhile, the director continued sending agents into Westview, but none returned—until they finally saw footage from inside on Lewis's television.
Everyone was shocked: the footage showed Vision, who had been dead. They couldn’t determine if what they were seeing was real. The director immediately ordered data analysis, which revealed that all the people appearing in the footage were actually real individuals playing roles. When they spotted the long-missing Monica in the broadcast, Lewis attempted to communicate through a radio on their desk. At the same time, color began to appear in the footage. Lewis urgently instructed Agent Woo to transmit a message, but the screen suddenly glitched—their attempt had failed.
Underground, another agent tried to enter the town through the sewer system, but his communication line severed as he crossed the town’s boundary. Outside, the television broadcast showed Wanda giving birth. Monica inadvertently mentioned Ultron, who killed Wanda’s brother, and immediately afterward, the footage jumped to a closing sequence. Monica was forcibly ejected from Westview and quickly found by S.W.O.R.D. agents stationed outside.
Inside Westview, Wanda restored the room damaged during Monica’s expulsion. When she turned around, she briefly saw Vision’s dead body, but upon looking again, everything returned to normal. She longed to live in this reality with Vision forever. Meanwhile, Monica, now expelled, finally understood: the entire disappearance of Westview was Wanda’s doing.
