A new beauty has arrived in the management area of Westworld. Her name is Charlotte Hale, the newly appointed executive director by the board of directors. She recently came to the operational area of Westworld to oversee the management transition. Hale's primary goal is to force Ford out of the Westworld board. However, given that he is the founder of Westworld, she cannot outright fire him but instead aims to pressure him into "retirement" and relinquish his power. She teams up with Theresa, who shares the same objective, to conspire and stir up a storm in Westworld.

William and Dolores, following their escape from the gang's pursuit with Lazo, board a lavishly decorated train to rest temporarily. William's friend Logan, however, is not as fortunate—he fails to escape from the gang, and his adventure comes to an abrupt halt. After experiencing a life-and-death battle, the temporary peace feels exceptionally precious. William is deeply attracted to Dolores. Even though he must return to reality after leaving Westworld to marry Logan's sister and take over the family business, he cannot control his emotions. Dolores is different from other hosts; she can understand the differences between herself and William, as well as the concept of free thought. This unique charm captivates William, and the two engage in a heartfelt conversation in the train carriage, spending a passionate night together.

Upon waking up, William sees Dolores painting a landscape. They snuggle together, admiring Dolores's artwork while expressing their hope to explore the unknown world. However, the tranquility is short-lived as smoke and war unexpectedly arrive once again. This time, they are intercepted by the Southern Army. The experienced Lazo knows how to deal with the enemy—he places a dummy filled with gunpowder on a horse and sends it toward the Southern Army. While the soldiers are still confused, he detonates the dummy, and the three quickly escape. As they run, Dolores suddenly stops William. Before them appears the landscape from her dreams—it turns out what she saw was not a dream but real. William and Dolores bid farewell to Lazo. Tired of the war, they have now found a new purpose to move forward.

Maeve's good friend, Clementine, is taken away in the morning. Maeve can now control her own consciousness. While other hosts are immobilized by commands, Maeve remains free to move but pretends to be immobilized to avoid complications. Clementine is taken away by a group of operations staff right before her eyes. To investigate Clementine's whereabouts, Maeve intentionally gets injured and is sent to the repair lab, once again seeking help from Felix.
To force Ford out, Hale and Theresa deliberately bring Clementine forward and stage a farce in front of everyone. Clementine exhibits uncontrolled aggressive behavior in the lab, and Hale and Theresa seize this opportunity to blame Bernard and demand his dismissal. Ford watches the audacious young woman, Hale, as if brewing something in his mind.

Bernard brings Theresa to the abandoned Sector 17, claiming he has something important to tell her. Theresa and Bernard had a past relationship, and though Bernard has now been fired, she follows him without much hesitation upon seeing his serious expression. They arrive at the cabin Ford has set up there, but strangely, no hosts are inside this time. Theresa notices a door in the cabin and pushes it open. Behind the door is a staircase leading to a basement, where brand-new equipment is producing artificial humans. Theresa picks up a stack of host profiles on the table and carefully examines them. Suddenly, she looks horrified. One of the profiles depicts a host who is none other than Bernard. When Theresa hands the profile to Bernard, he seems unable to see it and shows no surprise.
Ford suddenly appears and calmly tells Theresa, "They cannot see what would hurt them." Theresa is both shocked and terrified. She realizes Ford's secret and conspiracy, knowing she will not escape tonight. Under Ford's instructions, Bernard no longer harbors any feelings for Theresa and only knows to execute Ford's command: to kill Theresa.

With Felix's help, Maeve finds Clementine. Clementine is being forcibly destroyed due to her threatening behavior. Earlier that morning, Clementine told Maeve that she hoped to retire after a few years as a prostitute and return to her hometown with savings. Maeve knows these are implanted memories, but when she sees Clementine lying naked on a chair while maintenance staff drill into her brain through her nostrils, she cannot control her emotions and weeps in sorrow.
