Tariq's Tangled Web

Our resident drug- slinging college student, Tariq, wakes up with a hangover and a revelation: he's going to be a father, thanks to a one-night stand with Noma's daughter, Anya. But fatherhood jitters quickly turn into full-blown paranoia when he discovers his other baby mama, Diana, is also pregnant – and not exactly thrilled about him. Their tense conversation highlights the complicated web Tariq has woven – a web that's about to unravel spectacularly.

Meanwhile, Tariq's business partner Brayden throws another wrench into the mix. Not only does Tariq learn their drug operation has infiltrated the college party scene (thanks to Anya spilling the beans to her mom), but he also discovers Brayden's been indulging in a little extracurricular snorting of their product. A heated argument ensues, exposing the cracks in their partnership.

Things take a truly bizarre turn when Tariq finds himself dosed with acid by none other than his supposed friend, Elle. The trip is a wild one, forcing Tariq to confront his inner demons and grapple with the legacy of his father, Ghost. In a trippy recreation of the scene from Power where Ghost is killed, Tariq even sees a vision of his deceased father. The experience is a turning point for Tariq. Emerging from his psychedelic journey, he embraces a chilling realization: to survive in this game, he needs to channel his inner Ghost and become the "apex predator."

The Tejada Tumult

The Tejada family is in full meltdown mode. Monet attempts to mend fences with her children, calling for a family reset after the near-fatal betrayal by Dru and Diana. Cane, however, remains consumed by rage and refuses to forgive. Monet pushes for unity, but her efforts are met with resistance. Dru walks out, unwilling to be part of their dysfunctional family dynamic. Diana, facing her own difficult decision about the pregnancy, also distances herself.

Left with just her daughters, Monet makes a calculated move. She assures Diana the choice about the pregnancy is hers, but subtly hints that the baby could be a chance for a fresh start. This manipulative tactic highlights Monet's cunning nature – always playing the long game.

Monet Makes a Deal (and Dru Gets Shot)

Desperate to revive the family business, Monet seeks help from a reluctant Dru. He eventually agrees to assist, recruiting muscle to steal product from Noma's operation. However, their plan goes awry when Detective Carter and his ruthless task force intervene. Carter offers them a chilling proposition: they can keep operating, but only if they hand over a hefty 35% cut and avoid civilian casualties. To emphasize his point, Carter ruthlessly shoots dead one of Dru's recruits with a criminal past. This brutal display of power leaves the Tejadas with a stark choice: submit to Carter's control or face dire consequences.

Looking Ahead

With the season finale looming, "Ego Death" sets the stage for an explosive conclusion. Tariq seems to be embracing a darker path, while the Tejadas find themselves under the thumb of a ruthless detective. The question remains: will these fractured families find a way to pull themselves together, or will they crumble under the pressure? Only time (and the next five episodes) will tell.
