The Accident - S01E02 - What Could Go Wrong?

Emiliano, consumed by guilt, is determined to come clean about his involvement in the accident. However, David, driven by his own self-interest, dissuades him, claiming that confessing would endanger his life. With a pregnant Carla and a lucrative 40-million contract at stake, David's priorities are clear: protect himself and his family at all costs.

Despite his initial reluctance, Emiliano offers to represent Moncho, the bus driver, pro bono. However, David has other plans. He proposes a deal: Moncho must plead guilty in exchange for a safe passage to the United States for him and his family. With no other options, Yola pressures Moncho to accept the deal, even resorting to extortion to extract additional benefits for herself.

As the investigation unfolds, Charro, the owner of the bus company, is released from custody but refuses to take responsibility for the accident. Daniela, grieving the loss of her son Rodri, continues her search for Paula, the missing girl. Fabian, however, loses hope, believing that Paula is no longer alive.

At home, Emiliano tries to comfort Lucia, who is struggling to cope with the loss of her brother. Despite his efforts, Lucia is angry with him for his passivity and turns to drugs as a way to escape her pain. Brenda, meanwhile, is consumed by guilt and believes that Javier doesn't care about her or Mateo. She eventually finds solace in the company of Mauricio, who is also grieving the loss of his son.

Charro, desperate to protect himself, attempts to bribe a cop to kill Moncho. When Mauricio refuses to help, Charro resorts to threats. However, in private, he instructs the cop, Horacio, to carry out the murder.

David's lies are beginning to unravel as Carla, a journalist, becomes suspicious of his behavior. She insists on speaking to Moncho to get his side of the story, but David is determined to prevent her from doing so. Javier, also a partner in Emiliano's law firm, is shocked and angered by their decision to help Moncho, believing that he should be held accountable for his actions.

Daniela, consumed by grief and anger, visits Moncho in prison, hoping for him to suffer. When he attempts to explain his side of the story, he breaks down in tears. Horacio arrives, ready to carry out Charro's orders, but is interrupted by Lupita, who mocks Charro for his failure to kill Moncho.

As the episode progresses, the characters' lives become increasingly intertwined, leading to a series of dramatic confrontations. Daniela learns that Emiliano is defending Moncho, further fueling her anger. Yola, now unemployed, taunts Daniela, adding to her misery. Alex, worried about Lucia, finds her at Salome's house and takes her home to care for her. Brenda, struggling to come to terms with Mateo's death, breaks down when she is unable to complete his puzzle.

In a heartbreaking scene, Daniela and Fabian finally find Paula near the river, but she is unresponsive. Moncho's children, unaware of their father's guilt, are ostracized at school. Yola, torn between her loyalty to Moncho and her own self-interest, refuses to tell them the truth. Meanwhile, a mysterious lawyer named Ventura Barroso arrives at the prison, claiming to represent Moncho on behalf of Emiliano's firm.

The episode culminates in a shocking twist. As Emiliano visits Moncho in prison, Santos, a fellow inmate, congratulates him on his ability to distance himself from the situation. However, Emiliano is confused, as he doesn't know anyone named Barroso. When they rush to Moncho's cell, they discover that he has been poisoned.

The second episode of The Accident leaves viewers on the edge of their seats, with numerous questions unanswered. As the characters continue to grapple with the consequences of their actions, the truth becomes increasingly elusive, promising a thrilling and suspenseful conclusion to the series.
