The fifth episode of The Twelve (AU) Season 2 delves deeper into the
mysterious circumstances surrounding Bernice Price's death, revealing new
secrets and shocking revelations.
The episode opens with a brief scene of Bernice Price in the well, presumably on the day of her death. Thelma Connell visits Bells Hills, hoping to learn more about Marjorie Watson's trauma but is unsuccessful due to the recent change of ownership.

At the jail, SC Meredith Nelson-Moore and Rana Billings discuss trial strategy with Sasha Price, who is solely focused on securing a visit with her baby. The jurors become anxious when they are not called into the courtroom on time. Jury Officer Kate Neylon pulls Joey Novak outside to inform him of Pete McKirney's death. Meredith's first witness, Doctor Amal Hadid, reveals her strained relationship with Bernice and diagnoses her with Orthostatic Hypertension. Jude Persand challenges Hadid's expertise and the lack of confirmation through a tilt test.
While jurors debate Bernice's medical condition, Columbus Evans proposes a memorial for Pete. Meredith's next witness, Sasha's hairdresser, Wanda Tsiolkas, reveals Sasha's suspicious hair appointment booking for her mother. Jude points out Bernice's habit of cutting her own hair, raising questions about Sasha's actions.
After court, Wendy Hang discovers gummies at the facility where her father, Winston Hang, is receiving treatment. Joey is questioned by Constable Damo Scullin about Pete's death but is given leeway due to their past acquaintance. Alice Jinx lies for Joey, leading to an argument and further lies.
Before the trial resumes, SC Brett Colby discusses using a positive character witness for Patrick Harrows with Meredith. Nina Distazio suggests Vicki Koslowski, but her testimony backfires when Jude exposes her bias against Patrick. The jurors focus on Columbus's offer of free drinks in Pete's memory over the weekend.
Meredith attempts to apologize to Colby for Vicki's testimony but is met with criticism. Pete's bar memorial takes a turn when Alicia overhears Joey's conversation with Marty McKirney, further confirming his lies about his whereabouts on the night of Pete's overdose. Joey eventually confesses the truth to Alicia.
Winston is surprised when Marlene shows up in Teddy's place. He later learns that Wendy spoke with the facility and had Teddy replaced, leading to a heated argument about his family's lack of care. Colby extends an olive branch to Meredith by taking her to visit Patrick and Sasha's waterfall. However, Colby has another planned visit: the well. His discovery suggests the well's light has a backup system that could have been operational even without the main light functioning properly.
Fleur Hepburn and Rana take Baby Eddie to visit Sasha, but the encounter becomes emotionally charged. Meredith and Colby find themselves back in bed together, while Thelma continues her research of Bells Hills. The episode concludes with Patrick declaring his intention to change his plea.
