The Twelve (AU) Season 2: Episode 6 - A Web of Deception

The sixth episode of The Twelve (AU) Season 2 delves deeper into the intricate web of lies and deceit surrounding Bernice Price's death, revealing shocking revelations and unexpected twists.

The Twelve (AU) - S02E06 -

The episode begins with a brief flashback of Patrick Harrows' arrest. SC Brett Colby learns of Patrick's plea change and quietly leaves Meredith Nelson-Moore. At the jail, Colby prevents Patrick from speaking, except for a denial of killing Bernice. Colby suspects Patrick's guilt stems from Sasha Price's visit with their child.

Joey Kovac wakes up to learn from Alice Jinx that Marty McKirney has been calling. Thelma Connell seeks information from her mother, Marjorie Watson, about Bells Hills but is unsuccessful due to Marjorie's illness or deception. Thelma and Parvinder prepare Marjorie for their day at Passata Day while Mr. McKirney asks Joey to coach the youth soccer league. Joey reluctantly agrees.

As jurors enjoy Passata Day, Colby continues his research on the well light through Nina Distazio. Claudia D'Angelo approaches Nina for legal advice, but the context remains undisclosed. Meredith questions Colby about his absence, which is explained by his visit to Liam Bevan's warehouse.

Jude Persand and Alex Bentley discuss Colby's filed motion and his failure to mention Patrick's plea change. They encounter Colby and Meredith but avoid discussing the plea change, instead agreeing to recall the well digger, Liam Bevan.

Meredith questions Doctor Paloma Ferraro about her visit to Airly Downs to examine a steer with a mosquito-borne virus. Sasha later canceled the appointment, leading Ferraro to assume the steer's recovery or death. Ferraro's testimony reveals Amethyst Walker's earlier visit and her offhand comment about Bernice. This topic sparks discussion among the jurors.

Jude challenges Ferraro's expertise and the lack of confirmation through a tilt test. Colby later gets her to admit that the mosquito-borne illness (Bovine Ephemeral Fever/BEF) is commonly referred to as the 'three-day sickness' and that some animals may survive longer. Nina arrives with the motion to have Liam recalled.

During the recess, Thelma attempts to share her findings about Bells Hills but is prevented by Alex. Nina gives Claudia a business card for a family attorney.

Court resumes with Colby questioning Liam Bevan. Colby confirms that Bernice owed Liam $100,000 but was not listed among the Farm's creditors, indicating the debt was written off. Jude's objections divert Colby from this line of questioning. However, Colby later uses evidence to prove Liam's return to the well after Bernice's death for repairs, contradicting his previous testimony. The jury is asked to leave while Colby applies to end the trial due to evidence tampering. Justice St. John Ross agrees to consider the request.

Later, Meredith hints to Colby about their relationship, but he expresses disinterest. She appears hurt but is soon distracted by Jude's unexpected arrival. Jude seeks Meredith's help without Colby's knowledge, but she remains cautious.

Thelma tails Jude to a café where he debates giving her evidence from Bells Hills. She decides against it for now. Nearby, Claudia buys rollerblades for Rosa D'Angelo, leading to an argument with Connie D'Angelo. It is revealed that Claudia's efforts with Nina were to falsify Rosa's birth records. Thelma continues to follow Jude and is about to give him the evidence when Meredith arrives, changing her mind. Jude reveals Patrick's plea change to Meredith, who pretends to be unaffected but is clearly hurt. Jude promises to go easy on Sasha if she testifies.

Winston Hang unexpectedly visits Teddy Hardcastle at trivia night. Teddy assumes Winston wants more gummies but is surprised by Winston's apology for Wendy Hang's actions. Teddy is not upset and expresses concern for Winston's health. Winston and Teddy return to Winston's place, while Alice asks Joey to leave. Joey ends up in Patrick's old room at Guy Dovey's motel.

After learning about the lack of a mistrial, Meredith joins Colby for dinner and reveals her intention to put Sasha on the stand. Colby is unhappy and accuses her of doing so due to their earlier conversation. Meredith claims she is doing what's best for her client but admits to not trusting him.

The episode concludes with Colby returning to his room and finding Thelma's evidence waiting for him.
