The tangled threads of conspiracy and family weave a complex tapestry in the
fifth episode of "Parasyte: The Grey." The story unfolds as Seo Gyeong-woo, with
Jung Su-jin in tow, seeks refuge and turns to Ki-seok for help, only to find
Su-jin reeling from the shocking encounter with Kim Cheol-min's fate.
In a heart-wrenching flashback, we learn of the selfless acts of Jin-hee, who returned home to aid her ailing sister and help establish a business. The narrative then shifts to the present, where Gyeong-woo's attempts to contact Ki-seok in Seoul are met with silence, prompting Jin-hee to reach out for information about Gyeong-woo's whereabouts. However, her efforts are thwarted, and upon her return home, she is met with hostility from her sister and the pastor, who is part of a sinister plot she is yet to uncover.
The church, once a beacon of faith, now stands revealed as a nest of parasitic beings. Jin-hee's life is cut short as the church deems her a threat to their existence. In the present day, Gyeong-woo and Su-jin find themselves in a precarious situation, with Su-jin unable to accept the reality of Cheol-min's transformation.
The parasitic entity within Cheol-min infiltrates the police and the Grey Team, known only to Kang, the detective. The authorities, under pressure to reveal the existence of the monsters and prepare for a full-scale operation, are oblivious to the enemy within their ranks. The operation is set to coincide with the opening of the Choi Yong-jae Memorial, a significant event that could impact tourism.
Su-jin, desperate to reveal the truth to Choi Jun-kyung about the parasitic infiltration of the police, is met with skepticism. Jun-kyung, facing her own pressures and deadlines, is swayed by the information provided by the parasitic Cheol-min and Kang, leading her to make a fateful decision.
As the Grey Team prepares for a major operation, Su-jin reaches out to Jun-kyung with the truth about the parasitic entities within their ranks. However, Jun-kyung, challenged by time and doubt, proposes a dangerous plan that puts Su-jin in the line of fire.
