Who Is She! Season 1 Episode 5: Don’t Turn Back - The Reunion of Oh Du-ri and Kkeut-soon

In the fifth installment of the captivating K-drama "Who Is She!", viewers are taken on a rollercoaster of emotions as the story continues to unfold with unexpected twists and turns. The episode, titled "Don't Turn Back," begins in a dimly lit bar where the supernatural taxi driver, a mysterious figure who has been guiding characters through their journeys, refuses to allow an old man to choose again. The haunting melody of "Don't Turn Back" plays in the background, setting the tone for the episode's exploration of choices and their consequences.

The present-day narrative revolves around Oh Mal-soon, now known as Oh Du-ri, who finds herself face to face with a woman presumed to be the real Emily. Taking her outside the house to talk, Du-ri learns that this woman is actually her long-lost twin sister, Kkeut-soon, who has also been granted the gift of youth. Just as Kkeut-soon is about to reveal something crucial about their past, the taxi driver intervenes, reminding her that she is forbidden from speaking about it. Kkeut-soon hurriedly leaves, leaving Du-ri in a state of confusion and intrigue. Through Emily's conversation with the taxi driver, viewers discover that she is one of the people who returned to their youth, adding another layer of complexity to the story.

Meanwhile, Du-ri has forcefully negotiated with Daniel to let her stay at her family's house for 10 days, despite the tension and skepticism surrounding her sudden transformation. Elsewhere, Ha-na, a member of the debut group, recalls how her grandmother failed to recognize her, leading both Ha-na and Mal-soon's family to question whether Mal-soon might have dementia. This subplot adds a poignant layer to the narrative, highlighting the theme of identity and memory.

When Du-ri arrives late to practice, she is banned from joining the others until the debut. This decision is met with frustration and determination, as she is determined to prove herself. Shortly after, Ae-sim, the CEO of UNIS Entertainment, treats the debut group and their team to dinner. During this gathering, Du-ri stirs up trouble by deliberately provoking Ae-sim. A flashback reveals a darker side to Ae-sim's past, showing that she had debuted with one of Mal-soon's songs, betraying her trust. This revelation adds depth to the conflict between Du-ri and Ae-sim, as Mal-soon had found out about the betrayal from an acquaintance.

Since Du-ri is barred from official practice, she trains on her own, showcasing her resilience and dedication to her craft. Meanwhile, Daniel discovers evidence that someone had been inside his house just as he receives another message from his stalker, hinting at a deeper mystery unfolding behind the scenes.

The next day, neighborhood gossip about Mal-soon reaches her supposed twin sister, Kkeut-soon, who listens intently. Claiming to have lost her memory in an accident, Kkeut-soon approaches someone sympathetic to Mal-soon and learns her entire life story. This subplot introduces a new dynamic to the story, as Kkeut-soon's intentions and motivations remain unclear.

Elsewhere, one of the debut team members sabotages Du-ri again, ensuring she's late for an interim check. The same member also records a video of Du-ri with Mr. Park, further complicating her situation. During the meeting, it's revealed that Mal-soon had a sister, Kkeut-soon, who left for the States at a young age and never contacted Mal-soon again. This revelation adds a layer of sadness and longing to the story, as the sisters' estrangement becomes a central theme.

As expected, Du-ri arrives late for the interim check, and at the same time, Daniel receives the incriminating video of Du-ri and Mr. Park from Ae-sim. Overhearing Du-ri discussing withdrawing Mal-soon's money with Mr. Park, Daniel assumes she's involved in a scandalous relationship and fires her from the group. This dramatic turn of events leaves Du-ri in a precarious position, as she must navigate the challenges of her new life while dealing with the consequences of her actions.
