The Accident - S01E08 - The Search

The episode opens with Lucia and Alex on a bus, their phones discarded. A young boy's smile triggers a poignant memory for Alex, who recalls his unrequited love for Lucia. The conversation takes a somber turn as Alex mourns the loss of Gabito, killed by Emiliano. Lucia, attempting to defend Emiliano, finds herself in a heated argument with Alex.

Back home, Emiliano is confronted by Ulises, who questions his change of heart regarding the full sentence. Emiliano's anger flares, and he nearly expels Ulises from his home. Ulises, undeterred, assures Daniela of his continued support.

Meanwhile, Charro boasts of his extensive network, claiming he can easily secure all necessary permits. The American investors express concerns about Emiliano's case, but Javier assures them of his freedom, solidifying the deal. However, Charro harbors resentment and vows to destroy Emiliano once the deal is complete.

Fabian and Roxana's reunion is far from harmonious. Roxana, a believer in Paula's miracle, encourages Paula to continue sharing her experiences. Paula, overjoyed to have her mother back, believes their family is reunited thanks to the Virgin Mary.

Roxana, seizing the opportunity, arranges an interview with a local channel. As Paula shares her story, Fabian watches from afar, filled with mixed emotions. When the interviewer inquires about the accident, Paula becomes frightened, and Roxana takes control of the situation, disparaging Fabian's disbelief.

Ulises, angered by Emiliano's release, vows to bring him to justice. He visits Yola, questioning her about Moncho's murder. Yola, initially hesitant, reveals that Emiliano threatened to kill Moncho. Ulises suggests that Yola report the threat to the police, potentially leading to Emiliano's conviction as Moncho's killer.

Yola, conflicted, calls Emiliano, informing him of Ulises's plan. Emiliano, already searching for Lucia, becomes increasingly frustrated. Barroso, watching the news about Moncho and Emiliano, demands more money, threatening to go to the police.

Peyote, under Charro's orders, continues to monitor Carla. David, attempting to rectify the situation, is met with Carla's anger and accusations. The emotional turmoil triggers a miscarriage, leading Carla to blame David.

The Lobos, desperate to find Lucia, tear apart their house in search of clues. They discover Lucia's missing passport and drugs in her room, leading Daniela to believe Alex is responsible. The couple confronts Charro, blaming him for everything. Lupita, however, defends Alex's innocence.

Charro, reluctantly agreeing to help, instructs Peyote to bring back Alex and eliminate Lucia. Lupita overhears the plan and pleads with David to intervene, but David, consumed by self-preservation, refuses to help.

Lucia and Alex, on the run, are eventually recognized at a checkpoint. Despite their attempts to escape, they are detained. The Lobos and Peyote, alerted to their location, race to the scene, only to find the checkpoint empty. Alex has successfully bribed another cop, allowing him and Lucia to gain a head start.

Brenda, touched by Javier's efforts to repair Mateo's puzzle, offers him a second chance. She expresses her willingness to try for another child, even if it means exploring alternative methods. Javier, overwhelmed with emotion, agrees.

As the kids continue their journey, Lucia's desire for a break leads her to a nightclub. Alex, disapproving of her excessive drinking and dancing, tries to control her. Lucia, mocking his paternal behavior, accepts drugs from another girl. However, the bartender recognizes them from the Amber Alerts and contacts Peyote.

Emiliano, arriving at the nightclub, spots Alex and confronts him. Peyote, observing the confrontation, refrains from interfering. Emiliano, rushing to the bathroom, finds Lucia unconscious. In the final moments of the episode, Emiliano calls Daniela to seek medical help, but Peyote points a gun at his head.
