Walter and Jesse teamed up to dispose of Emilio’s body, but Walter was still torn over how to kill the drug dealer.
Skyler was deeply worried that Walter was being tangled up with Jesse, so she told her sister Marie and brother-in-law Hank about the situation. Seeing how earnest Skyler sounded, Marie grew concerned that both Walter and his son were smoking marijuana. To help her sister, Marie asked her husband Hank—who worked at the DEA—to talk some sense into Walter’s son.

Hank took Walter’s son to a motel frequented by drug dealers and prostitutes, hoping to give him a vivid lesson.

As Walter was about to bring food to the drug dealer, he suddenly broke into a violent cough and fell down the basement stairs. When he regained consciousness, the dealer asked what was wrong. Walter bluntly admitted he had lung cancer, which was why he was coughing so severely.

It was the first time he had confided this to anyone, and he felt a slight sense of relief. Walter cleaned up the mess from his fall and brought fresh food and alcohol to the dealer.
Unable to summon the courage to kill the dealer, the two had a heartfelt conversation after drinking. The dealer assured Walter he would never report them to the police, and Walter let his guard down.

When he returned upstairs, he was about to grab the keys to free the dealer—only to notice that a shard was missing from the bowl he had used earlier. He suspected the dealer had taken it while he was unconscious. Realizing the dealer had been planning to kill him all along, Walter stormed down to the basement and killed the dealer.

When Walter got home, Skyler was furious and demanded to know where he had been lately. Walter looked at her and said flatly, “We need to talk.”
