In the middle of the night, Shaun was annoyed by the constant dripping of the kitchen faucet. Unable to find a wrench, he called Aaron. Aaron was furious about the call—after all, it was past 4 a.m.—but he patiently talked Shaun down and told him to contact the building manager for such issues. With their joint effort, Shaun barely fixed the faucet, but he lost sleep for the entire night.

The next morning, during a meeting with Dr. Melendez, Melendez immediately noticed Shaun’s poor mental state. A pregnant patient was admitted to the hospital; doctors discovered a tumor on the back of her unborn baby, which would affect the baby’s development. Determined to save her child, the pregnant woman wanted surgery to remove the tumor, but her husband disagreed. The surgery carried extremely high risks—if it failed, both mother and baby could die—but the woman insisted. Melendez, also eager to save the little life, decided to perform the surgery.

Just as everyone was discussing the pregnant woman’s surgery, Melendez received an emergency call from the ER: they needed a doctor to treat a teenage girl for a "pimple" on her genitals. Melendez assigned Shaun and Dr. Brown to the case. During the examination, Shaun realized the girl did not have a simple pimple, but a vaginal cyst caused by a flesh-eating bacteria infection—far more serious than a pimple. Through conversation, Brown learned the girl worked in the adult film industry, which led to her condition. Brown suggested the girl ask her parents to come to the hospital, but the girl refused, not wanting her parents to know about her job.

Shaun, Brown, and a neurologist performed surgery on the girl. During the procedure, they discovered the cyst was wrapped around the genital nerves; removing the cyst would leave the vagina without sensation. They had to stop the surgery and planned to consult the girl for her consent once she regained consciousness.

On his way home from work, Shaun ran into his female neighbor in the hallway. She advised him not to fix the faucet again that night and suggested he ask the property management for help. Shaun then took the repair list to the property maintenance worker. The worker was annoyed by Shaun’s late-night request but still accepted the work order. Unable to sleep that night, Shaun replayed the girl’s case in his mind and finally came up with a solution.

The next morning, Shaun and Brown visited the girl’s ward and told her about the plan: transferring a nerve from her thigh to her vagina to solve the sensation issue. The girl accepted Shaun’s suggestion and even asked Brown to inform her family. Brown was relieved, and with her family’s encouragement, the girl eventually recovered.

Melendez, accompanied by Jared, entered the operating room to prepare for the pregnant woman’s surgery. Their plan was to temporarily remove the underdeveloped fetus from the uterus, remove the tumor on its back, and then place the baby back. At that moment, Melendez’s fiancée suddenly appeared and called him out of the operating room. It turned out the pregnant woman’s husband wanted to stop the surgery—he prioritized saving his wife.

To respect the family’s wishes, Melendez had to postpone the surgery. Additionally, Melendez’s superior, Dr. Marcus, opposed the surgery: if it failed, the surgical department’s performance would drop, affecting a range of benefits. Melendez held multiple discussions and fought with the hospital’s senior management. In the end, the hospital approved the surgery, and Melendez also managed to persuade the pregnant woman’s husband.

During the surgery, Melendez noticed the pregnant woman was showing signs of heart disease, which would severely impact the operation’s outcome. He had to stop the surgery and ask for the woman’s opinion. The woman insisted on saving the baby even at the cost of her own safety, deeply moving Melendez. To prevent the heart condition from disrupting the surgery, Jared proposed temporarily stopping the woman’s heart and using an external pacemaker to buy time. Melendez accepted the idea, and the surgery was successfully completed—both mother and baby were safe. The woman’s husband expressed sincere gratitude to Melendez.
