1992 Netflix (2024) Episode 3: Seville Is Like Dreaming of Heaven - Sevilles Dark Secrets

In the third episode of Netflix's "1992," titled "Seville Is Like Dreaming of Heaven," the narrative continues to unfold as Amparo and Richi delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding the 1992 Seville Expo. The episode begins with Richi en route to Seville, unable to contact Amparo, who has been found under a bridge by some teenagers and taken to the hospital. Amparo's phone, damaged from her fall into the river, forces her to exchange her watch for a new one at a local store.

Amparo soon receives a call from Fernando, who invites her to meet at a restaurant. During their conversation, Fernando reveals his role in the Expo, describing himself as a "small fry" among the influential figures of the time. He explains that Domingo was a prominent developer, Zamorano was a commissioner, Valcarcel handled the finances, Esteban managed investments and marketing, and Fernando worked as an aide for Zamorano.

The episode delves into the Expo's darker side, revealing a failed launch of a replica of Nao Victoria, which capsized due to sabotage. Zamorano had received threatening letters from an unknown blackmailer demanding cash to ensure the Expo's success and the safety of those involved. Despite the threats, the Expo's main building caught fire, and the Minister of Interior, Esteban, paid the ransom in an attempt to catch the blackmailer.

The Security and National Research Council team set a trap for the blackmailer, placing a briefcase filled with cash in a dumpster. However, the operation goes awry when a homeless man picks up a different bag, and the money disappears. Fernando, who was a minor player at the time, took the fall for the situation.

As Amparo and Richi continue their investigation, they meet with Robledo and visit Fernando, who provides them with documents and papers related to the Expo. Amparo discovers that security was lax on the days of the tragedies, leading them to uncover the identity of the head of security at the time, Jose Luis Martinez Romeu.

Meanwhile, the killer, who has been taking a latex bath to disguise his appearance, places a bomb inside a Curro doll and enters Fernando's building. The cleaner, Rosa, notices the killer and later discovers the Curro doll. Before she can react, the bomb detonates, sending her flying.

This episode is a crucial turning point in the series, as it begins to unravel the complex web of deceit and conspiracy surrounding the Expo. The characters' pasts are revealed, and the present-day dangers become increasingly apparent. Amparo and Richi's determination to uncover the truth is tested as they navigate a world where everyone seems to have something to hide.

"Seville Is Like Dreaming of Heaven" is a masterful blend of suspense, mystery, and historical intrigue. The episode not only advances the plot but also provides viewers with a deeper understanding of the characters and the events that have shaped their lives. As Amparo and Richi continue their quest for justice, the shadows of the past loom larger, and the stakes grow higher.
