Fallen Season 1, Episode 5: The Girl From Anavarzine - Unraveling the Web of Lies

Episode 5 of Fallen delves deeper into the sinister secrets of Willow Creek Institute, revealing shocking truths and exposing the lengths to which Dr. Howson will go to maintain control. The episode begins with Dr. Burrows conducting a mysterious reincarnation ritual in the woods, where the victim's identity remains concealed.

Luce, alone in her room, reviews her newly acquired files and contacts her father, Harry Price, outside. However, their conversation yields little progress as Harry remains skeptical of her claims. Meanwhile, Dr. Howson and Ms. Sophia Miriam discuss the ritual, revealing that Howson was forced to participate and that the Veil should have prevented Edward Lockwood from witnessing the charred remains of the facility.

Fallen - S01E05 - The Girl From Anavarzine

At breakfast, Luce notices changes in Penn and shares her discussion with her father, realizing the need to escape with physical evidence of Howson's wrongdoing. Penn meets with Sophia's sister to discuss the previous night's incident, but her memory is hazy, and she fears expulsion. Eugene continues to harass Molly, causing her physical pain.

Daniel and Luce plan their escape while training together, and Roland and Cam discuss their files, revealing Roland's limited memory of his time at the institute. Cam shares his near-death experiences and miraculous recoveries, prompting Luce to reveal her plan to escape.

Molly is surprised by Gabbe's kindness and medical assistance, while Daniel and Luce present their escape plan to the other residents. Despite the plan requiring everyone's participation, only Daniel and Luce will actually escape. After some debate, everyone agrees to help, except for Gabbe.

Arriane, initially excluded from the plan, learns about it and expresses her desire to join. Luce, touched by Arriane's support, reveals her connection to her and attributes it to saving her life. When Molly and Gabbe discover their medical files, a tense group therapy session ensues, with Howson defending his methods and the residents accusing him of lobotomizing them. Howson eventually walks out of the session, and Gabbe provides Daniel and Luce with keys to a Humvee and an ankle bracelet removal tool.

Ms. Sophia confronts her sister about a missing page from the prophecy books, but her sister dismisses her concerns. Sophia warns her that removing the page won't solve the problem.

Daniel and Luce prepare for their escape, but Molly's attack on Eugene and Roland's electrocution create unexpected challenges. Despite these obstacles, Daniel and Luce manage to escape the facility, leaving behind Roland and the other residents.

Daniel and Luce briefly celebrate their victory, but their joy is short-lived as Howson arrives with backup. Cam returns to his room and finds Arriane waiting, where they discuss her medical file and her revelation about being at the institute for 20 years and undergoing memory treatment.

Daniel and Luce are captured and brought back to Howson's office, where they are interrupted by Tasha. Luce's curiosity leads her to Howson's secret lab, where she encounters the Outcast. The Outcast reveals that she is the girl from Anavarzine and must make a choice to return and be forgiven. He also warns her that this is her last chance as the others are already dead.

As Daniel rescues Luce from the Outcast's attack, she discovers a pendant that triggers memories of another life. The episode concludes with her shocking discovery of a clone of herself in a scientific tank.
