The Mandalorian drove his speeder bike, carrying the Child, his armor, and a piece of krayt dragon meat. While passing through a canyon, he completely failed to notice the nearly invisible cable, camouflaged against the sand, stretched across the ground. The bike's front end caught on the cable, sending the Mandalorian and his cargo flying, scattering across the desert floor. It was a band of foolish thieves attempting an ambush. A seasoned warrior, the Mandalorian easily dispatched them. However, with the speeder bike destroyed, he was forced to shoulder the Child and his gear, trekking on foot through the desert back to the outpost.

In the cantina, Peli Motto, having finished her day's work, was casually playing cards with Dr. Pershing (referred to here as "Jawbone Doctor" based on the context, though this is likely a descriptive nickname for the character). Hearing that he was looking for Mandalorians, the Doctor claimed to have a lead, on the condition that the Mandalorian cover the stakes for their card game. Thus, the five hundred Republic credits from the Mandalorian's pocket found their way into Peli's. The Doctor then revealed that there was a secret Mandalorian covert, and a contact who knew its location would be coming to Peli's repair station.

Just as the Child was drooling over the roasting krayt dragon meat, the promised contact arrived at the repair station. The good news was the Mandalorian covert was located on Trask, in the Kel Adar system, which wasn't too far. The bad news was the Mandalorian had to give this person a ride there, and he couldn't use the hyperdrive. The passenger was a female Frog-like alien (likely a Frog Lady), carrying a tank of fertilized eggs on her back. The entire journey had to be made at sub-light speed to ensure the eggs' survival. The Razor Crest relied on hyperdrive to evade dangers; traveling without it was a significant risk. If not for the fact that the Frog Lady's husband on Trask's liquid moon had seen Mandalorians, the Mandalorian would never have considered this mission.

As Peli noisily chewed her rare krayt dragon steak, the Mandalorian embarked on his risky journey to the Kel Adar system. Sub-light travel would take a long time, making the ship an easy target for pirates or Imperial remnant warlords. But the last thing the Mandalorian expected to encounter was two New Republic X-wing starfighters.
The Razor Crest's transponder wasn't broadcasting a signal, prompting the patrol X-wings to move in for an inspection. When he saw the fighters extend their S-foils into attack position, the Mandalorian knew trouble was brewing. Sure enough, the X-wing pilots cross-referenced security records and found the Razor Crest had been near the New Republic prison "Borshin Five" (likely referring to The Mandalorian S01E06). Offering no explanation, the Mandalorian immediately turned and dove toward the nearest planet, Maldo Kreis.

Maldo Kreis was an ice planet. The Razor Crest plunged through thick, dense clouds, weaving through frozen crevasses in the ice layer to evade the pursuing X-wings. Thanks to his exceptional piloting skills, the Mandalorian managed to land on an ice shelf shielded by rock formations, finally shaking the pursuit. However, the respite was short-lived. With several loud cracks, the ice shelf gave way under the weight. Before the Razor Crest's engines could power up, it plummeted into an ice crevasse, sustaining heavy damage.

Continuing the journey in this state was impossible. Yet, these were the Frog Lady's final clutch of eggs in her lifecycle; if they couldn't reach her husband, her line would end. Keeping his word was part of the Mandalorian creed. The Mandalorian grabbed his tool kit, exited the ship, and began repairing the damaged vessel in the freezing cold.

Soon, the Child toddled out, shivering, and pointed behind the ship. The Mandalorian investigated and found a trail of footprints leading deep into the crevasse. Frog-like species are cold-blooded and instinctively seek heat sources in cold environments. Following the trail, the Mandalorian found the Frog Lady and her eggs soaking in a natural hot spring.
Night was falling fast, and this place was unsafe. As the Mandalorian helped gather the eggs back into the incubation tank, the Child began eagerly eating larvae from unidentified insect eggs near the spring. This proved disastrous. A giant spider, as large as the Razor Crest itself, charged from the depths of the dark crevasse, accompanied by thousands of smaller spiders swarming from all directions.
The Mandalorian hoisted the incubation tank, grabbed the Frog Lady and the Child, and ran. He used his blaster and flamethrower to fend off the smaller spiders and dropped explosives to block the path and slow the giant spider's advance. They barely made it back into the Razor Crest's cockpit, sealing the hatch and firing up the engines for takeoff. But the giant spider leaped from above onto the ship. Overwhelmed by the weight, the Razor Crest crashed back to the ground.

The giant spider's maw pressed against the cockpit viewport, relentlessly gnawing. Just as the transparisteel was about to shatter, several laser cannon blasts struck, obliterating the giant spider. Subsequent blaster fire then cleared the remaining smaller spiders from the ship's hull. Wondering where this help had come from, the Mandalorian exited the cockpit, dispatched the few spiders that had gotten inside the cabin, and stepped outside to see two X-wings parked nearby.

The X-wing pilots, having detected the explosions, had followed the disturbance and arrived just in time to save the Razor Crest from the spiders. The lead pilot informed him they had learned that during the prison break (see The Mandalorian Season 1, Episode 6), the Mandalorian not only delivered three bounty targets but also intentionally placed a tracker on the escapee, Qin, enabling the Republic to recapture him. In light of this, the X-wing pilots merely instructed the Mandalorian to obey New Republic laws by keeping his transponder active during flight. After issuing this warning, the X-wings lifted off and flew out of the crevasse to continue their patrol.
The Mandalorian breathed a sigh of relief. He walked through the web-infested cabin back to the cockpit. The hull's integrity was compromised beyond repair there and then. All he could do was perform basic repairs to the ship's electrical systems. Everyone would have to remain in the sealed cockpit, hoping the Razor Crest could hold together long enough to reach Trask. The ship, resilient as ever, powered up once more after the repairs and lifted off, heading toward its destination.
