Escobar's bombing targeting Gaviria did not harm Gaviria; instead, more than a hundred innocent civilians became victims. At the presidential inauguration gala, the former president said that a president must bear more pressure and make more difficult decisions than others, advising Gaviria to stay true to his inner self and his decisions. The former president's daughter Turbay wanted to know their attitude towards the Americans, but the former president only told Gaviria to be careful.
Murphy, along with Peña and Carrillo, went to find Jamie's girlfriend, but she completely denied that Escobar had been there and that Jamie had any connection with Escobar. Everyone knew she was lying, but she was the only witness who could link Escobar to the bombing, and they could do nothing about her.
What she didn't know, however, was that the domestic situation no longer allowed Escobar to stay. After saying an emotional farewell to his family, Escobar ordered his men to kill Jamie's girlfriend and all those who could link him to the bombing. Upon hearing this, Poison in the back row had a slight flicker in his eyes.
Gaviria kept his promise to capture Escobar but refused American help. Carrillo's search team quickly got to work, while the anti-narcotics unit had to stand by and do nothing due to bureaucracy. Launching the war did not benefit Escobar; on the contrary, he had to cooperate with Barcha of the Cali Cartel, uniting the two major drug cartels to fight against the U.S. extradition treaty, and had to watch helplessly as his market was seized.
The anti-narcotics unit was not idle either. They turned Poison and Shooter, Escobar's most trusted men, and also learned that two new men, Galeano and Moncada, had taken over Red's business. Although the United States could not openly use surveillance and wiretapping, Murphy and Peña still discovered Escobar's sphere of influence from the aerial photographs sent back by satellites—they could find Escobar just by tracking those luxury cars. Escobar sent Duque to negotiate with Gaviria, saying that if the two sides started negotiations, they could stop the bombings and buy time for the search team, but Gaviria refused.
After learning the result, Escobar decided to take a desperate gamble. He discussed with Gustavo the idea of kidnapping the families of government officials, burning down their homes, and disrupting the peace of the entire society, so that the Colombian government would have to accept their conditions. Gustavo did not agree with his opinion, but Escobar insisted on going his own way. Soon, the families of many government officials were kidnapped and killed. Escobar wanted Turbay to promote his humanitarianism to the outside world. Turbay demanded the release of one hostage, and Escobar complied. Turbay also kept her promise and conveyed to Gaviria Escobar's sincerity in wanting to negotiate. Turbay's video was sent to the Presidential Palace, and the former president threatened Gaviria that if he did not accept Escobar's negotiation request, he would not provide any economic or political help to him.
Helpless, Gaviria accepted the decision to negotiate on the one hand, and on the other hand asked Edward to notify the Americans to hunt down Escobar. Murphy and Peña received news that Poison was going to the commune. When they arrived, Jamie's girlfriend had been shot dead, and Poison and Shooter were arguing about whether to kill their young daughter. Just as the two were about to be arrested, a child holding a gun jumped out from the side and pointed it at them. Poison and Shooter escaped, and Murphy had to take the baby back home.
