Ford holds conflicting attitudes toward the theme park he built. On one hand, he greatly enjoys the satisfaction it brings him; on the other, he treats everything that happens in the park with rational ruthless. When bored, Ford would awaken an old, decommissioned host to chat with him, a behavior many employees find puzzling. This time, Ford summons Delores for a conversation.

Delores's abnormalities deeply concern Ford. He believes that this oldest host holds Arnold's secrets. However, in analysis mode, Delores states that her last contact with Arnold was thirty-four years ago—the day Arnold died. That day, Arnold asked Delores to help him destroy the park. Ford had long anticipated Arnold's intentions, but now he wants to dig deeper to uncover what secret or method Arnold left behind that could lead to the park's destruction. Unbeknownst to Ford, Delores has already learned to lie and conceal—she hasn't told him everything.

The young man, William, and Delores continue their journey through Westworld. This time, they are following a storyline to find the wanted criminal Lazo and join the Southern Army to experience the thrills of pillaging and plundering. Guided by the voice in her heart—or perhaps Arnold's voice—Delores accompanies William on this adventure.

While at work, behavior department employee Elsie sees her maintenance department colleagues bringing in the host who previously smashed his own head, ready for incineration. Using a small trick, she threatens the responsible colleague to let her secretly examine the body. Elsie knows that such behavior from a host indicates something highly abnormal. After investigation, she discovers that the truth is even more shocking than expected: the host has been implanted with a satellite transmission device. Someone, unknown, is using these hosts to transmit park data outward.

Delores and William complete the storyline task with Lazo. They arrive at a luxurious venue, welcomed by a gang leader. Delores feels increasingly uneasy and hopes William will leave with her to find a way out. William says things beyond Delores's understanding—he isn't sure if she comprehends, but her actions make him feel that this host is truly different. He knows Delores has fallen in love with him, and he has fallen for her too.

After being framed by Lazo, they are forced to flee. During their escape, Delores reveals a strong and ruthless side. Together with William, they catch up with Lazo, who fled earlier, and find the stolen box of valuables. On the box is carved the maze map that Delores has been seeking.
Delores finds the answer, and the voices in her mind disappear. It turns out that everything that happened with William was part of Delores's memories—or perhaps just implanted programming. Delores remembers the path she must take and finds what she needs to find.
