Walter suddenly notices a discrepancy in the amount of drugs in the lab. He questions Jesse, who claims to know nothing about it. Walter spots a fly in the lab, knocks over the lab equipment, and is determined to catch that fly.

Jesse returns to the lab and finds Walter has been there all night. Walter is extremely obsessed with the fly, vowing to catch it at all costs. Jesse tries to help Walter but only makes things worse.

Walter kicks Jesse out of the lab and continues catching the fly alone. Jesse shuts off the lab’s power and goes out to buy fly traps. Walter and Jesse resume their hunt for the fly together.

Jesse slips a sleeping pill into Walter’s coffee, which Walter doesn’t
notice. The two talk about Walter’s illness—Jesse is happy about Walter’s
recovery, while Walter reveals his suicidal tendencies, and Jesse comforts
him.

Walter mentions his previous conversation with Jane’s father at a bar, saying he persists now solely for his family. Jesse is deeply moved by this.

Jesse fulfills Walter’s wish by catching the fly. The sleeping pill takes effect, and Walter falls asleep. Jesse carries Walter to bed and tucks him in.

Walter discovers that Jesse is the one who took the missing drugs from the lab and warns him to stop. Jesse insists he didn’t do it, and Walter admits he’s powerless to change anything.

While sleeping at home, Walter hears the buzzing of a fly. He opens his eyes and realizes someone is watching him.
