After leaving Nevarro, the Razor Crest arrived safely in the Corvus system and touched down near the settlement of Calodan. The town was ruled by the authoritarian magistrate Morgan Elsbeth, and under her control, the citizens were too afraid to speak to strangers. Just as the Mandalorian was at a loss on how to find Ahsoka Tano, the captain of the guard arrived under orders to escort him to the magistrate.

At the magistrate’s compound, he saw electrified cages on both sides of the gate, each holding three prisoners put on public display. Inside, however, the compound was like an oasis—serene, with flowing streams and bridges—a stark contrast to the grim world outside. Morgan was well-versed in Mandalorian history, including their ancient rivalry with the Jedi. She offered the bounty hunter a job: eliminate a Jedi on her planet, and his reward would be a pure Beskar spear.

The payment was generous, but what the Mandalorian really wanted to know was the location of this Jedi. Deep in the scorched forest, he found the legendary Ahsoka Tano. He held no hostility toward the Jedi, and instead of the deadly duel Morgan had hoped for, the two spoke calmly. When he mentioned Bo-Katan’s name and showed her the Child—who bore a striking resemblance to Master Yoda—Ahsoka knew he was not an enemy.

Through the Force, Ahsoka communed with the Child for a long time and finally learned his story. His name was Grogu, born at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where he was trained by many Masters. After the Clone Wars ended and the Empire rose, he was forced to flee the Temple. Since then, he had suppressed his abilities to survive, causing them to fade over time.

The Mandalorian hoped Ahsoka would continue Grogu’s training, but she sensed the Child had formed a strong attachment to him—a path she had seen before. Her own master, Anakin Skywalker, had been led by fear and attachment to the dark side. Relenting under persistent urging, Ahsoka agreed on one condition: they must work together to free the people of Calodan. The Mandalorian readily agreed.

The Mandalorian had observed the city's defenses—guard troops and assassin droids that, if concentrated, could overwhelm even the fastest lightsaber. Moreover, Morgan Elsbeth herself was highly skilled, and her Beskar spear made her fearless against Ahsoka’s lightsaber. But Ahsoka and the Mandalorian had one advantage: Morgan would never expect two ancient enemies to join forces.

Wielding twin lightsabers, Ahsoka scaled the high walls, cutting a path straight to the magistrate’s compound. In front of Morgan, she tossed down the Mudhorn-signet pauldron, making Morgan believe the Mandalorian had been defeated. As Morgan sent all her troops to hunt Ahsoka through the narrow alleys, the Mandalorian descended from the sky, freeing the prisoners from the electric cages.

The captain of the guard soon realized his forces were being gradually worn down by Ahsoka’s elusive movements. He called off the pursuit and tried to return to the compound, only to be blocked by the Mandalorian. Meanwhile, Ahsoka leaped into the compound, where Morgan stood alone. Outside, the captain could clearly hear the clash of lightsaber against spear. After a few strikes, the spear fell to the ground—the outcome was clear. The captain attempted one final desperate move, but he was no match for the Mandalorian’s draw, and fell to a blaster shot.

The people of Calodan were liberated and elected their own leader. From Morgan, Ahsoka learned the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn—a mission that now demanded her attention, making it impossible for her to train Grogu. Instead, she pointed another way: the planet Tython, home to ancient ruins strong with the Force. If Grogu were placed on the seeing stone at the mountain peak and chose to reach out through the Force, any surviving Jedi across the galaxy would sense his presence and come for him.

Letting Grogu choose his own path seemed a fair solution. The Mandalorian lifted the Child, bid farewell to Ahsoka, and under her watchful gaze, the Razor Crest lifted off, setting a course for distant Tython.
