Gilberto's arrest attracted great attention from the Cali Cartel, and their security work was unprecedentedly strengthened. Fearing that Gilberto's arrest would undermine the ongoing negotiations with the Cali Cartel, the Colombian government shifted all the blame to Pena, who was under immense pressure.

Gilberto bribed the prison guards and got a chance to call Miguel, telling him to meet Evelio from the North Valley and make sure to stabilize the morale. During this period, the Cali Cartel's business should proceed as usual. Miguel kept saying that someone had betrayed the Cali Cartel, but Gilberto replied that the situation had changed—Miguel must strengthen his own security, as he was now the next target of the Americans.

Fortunately, Ernesto Samper, the new Colombian president, also abhorred drug traffickers deeply. Fiston and Chris had their movements restricted in Cali. Pena went to see Defense Minister Fernando, who said he would do his best to facilitate Pena if he could prove he was on the same side. Pena took the opportunity to ask him to lift the house arrest on Chris and Fiston.

Before leaving, Fernando reminded Pena that to bring Gilberto to justice, he needed to find witnesses who could testify against his crimes. Pena replied that he was in contact with a senior executive of the Cali Cartel. Miguel gathered Jorge and Carlo, ordering them to find out who had betrayed him. Jorge knew Miguel would not let it go—since they had designed the security system, Miguel would sooner or later suspect them—but Carlo didn't take it seriously. Nicolás went to the prison to see Gilberto with a lawyer. Although the lawyer repeatedly assured him that the amnesty plan would proceed as scheduled, Gilberto flew into a rage when he learned the lawyer hadn't met Medina, the government negotiator.

Nicolás urged his father to control his temper, but Gilberto made it clear he didn't want him involved in the matter. Following Gilberto's instructions, Miguel met with Evelio. María and their son accidentally appeared, and Evelio keenly detected the fear in Miguel's eyes. Chris and Fiston were freed and moved into a hidden house to continue monitoring the Cali Cartel's every move.

Pena successfully struck up a conversation with Eudoro's wife Cristina in a bar. He revealed his identity as a DEA agent and hoped she would cooperate, but Cristina refused without hesitation. At the airport, Jorge and Carlo discovered that Fiston and Chris hadn't left Cali as Calderón had claimed. Carlo decided to pin all the blame on Calderón and went to intimidate him.

Miguel didn't stop at that—he insisted on finding out who the traitor in the Cali Cartel was, putting immense pressure on Jorge. Pena approached Cristina again, saying he only wanted to help her. If Eudoro really cared about her, he should do the right thing. Cristina admitted it had been a wrong start, but still didn't agree to Pena's request. Pena had to leave his contact information and ask her to think about it.

That night, Cristina called Eudoro crying. Pena monitored the call and found a clue about Curaçao. Nicolás visited Medina alone, who hinted that they needed to renegotiate the terms of the amnesty. When Nicolás told Gilberto what Medina had said, Gilberto felt obvious panic. After learning about Gilberto's situation, Bacho dared not act rashly. With Amado constantly persuading him to join the Juárez Cartel, Bacho began to waver.

Jorge went to pick up his daughter from school and felt he was being followed all the way. On the way, he received a call to attend a meeting and hurried to Miguel's residence. As soon as he entered, he sensed the atmosphere was off—and sure enough, he saw Carlo's wife being held hostage. In front of Jorge, David ordered someone to kill Calderón, then took him to where Carlo was detained. David told Jorge they had caught Carlo while he was preparing to flee. Carlo begged Jorge to protect his wife and daughters.

When Jorge arrived, he was greeted by a mess of blood and bodies—Carlo's wife and daughters had been killed. Miguel appointed Jorge as the new security chief. Jorge couldn't refuse and had to accept. When he got home, he locked himself in the bathroom. Cristina called Pena, asking if he could guarantee her and her husband's safe return to the country. She said she could gradually persuade Eudoro to cooperate with the DEA, and Pena readily agreed. Jorge noticed Chris and Fiston were following and monitoring him, so he called them, saying they could help each other.
