Knowing she had won, Dolores prepared to kill Charlotte. However, a sudden disturbance in the laboratory created chaos, allowing Charlotte and her subordinates to escape in the confusion.
Maeve, fleeing from Native Americans with her "daughter" Anna, took refuge in a small house in the wilderness. William, following the clues Ford had left him, arrived at the house and pushed open the door to find a trembling Maeve and Anna. Maeve recognized William—he had once stabbed her for his own amusement. Assuming Maeve was a character arranged by Ford, William vented his frustrations toward Ford through her. Blinded by rage, Maeve controlled nearby hosts to continuously attack William. Just then, Lawrence, William's companion who had also gained free will, intervened to stop Maeve's assault. However, Lawrence had no memory of what William had done to him. Maeve looked at Lawrence and smirked, reminding him of William's cruelty. As William turned against Lawrence, Native Americans and Delos armed forces suddenly appeared. Maeve was struck down, William escaped in the chaos, and Anna, as per the storyline, fell into the hands of the Native Americans.
The armed forces had been brought by Sizemore, who had managed to send a distress signal during the earlier chaos, leading them to their location. After Maeve was subdued, Sizemore ensured her safety. Their journey together had allowed Sizemore to witness unprecedented humanity and emotion in Maeve—perhaps as his research subject, or perhaps because he had come to see her as a friend.
After being brought back to the laboratory, Maeve coincidentally encountered the ongoing turmoil. Dolores and her followers quickly took control of the situation and soon discovered Maeve lying on the brink of death. Dolores knew that Maeve, like Teddy before her, was swayed by emotions. She considered putting Maeve out of her misery but ultimately spared her. Sizemore, hiding in the shadows, broke into a cold sweat from fear.
